As a xps 13 2-1 user, the easiest way to deal with the dog shit page up/do keys is to download sharp keys and re bind them to the left and right arrows respectively. It’a a small thing but that 5 minutes it took to install has made a huge difference in my productivity. Great review!
If you dont need the PageUp + PageDown keys that often you could use a key mapper (like Sharp Keys) and map PgUp to Left and PgDn to Right. To use PgUp + PgDn you could use Fn+PgUp etc.
I am so damn happy they restored the PgDn and PgUp buttons correctly right next to the arrow buttons where they belong. Drives me nuts there's so few laptops I can use because of that.
Chris, another very complete review. This would not be me, but Dell is a good choice for laptops and is a company in my state in the US. Would love to see more laptops in the review studio. Thanks. Stay safe.
Same. All the technological improvement, Moore's law and what not. Nope take this stupid celeron/atom/amd (non-ryzen) slow molases with crappy 128gb ssd. Heck basic gaming Asus ROG gaming laptop used to come with 16gb ram (2013). Nowadays 8gb it is. Asus TUF series in the Malaysian market only comes with 4gb. The first MSI GS Stealth (thin ang light gaming laptop) comes with 3 x 256gb ssd (raid-0). Sad trend for the pc market for mere mortals. I can't fathom the fact that i'll be buying a 1000$ laptop for my under age brother (13) because 500$ is very very bad (shitty 786p tn screen, shitty cpu regardless amd or intel, shitty slow SSD or even EMMC baked in, lack of ram)
Tottaly agree.. I upgraded my very old laptop and wanted to spent 500 (which i think is a decent amount) and I got disappointed that I didn't found anything that FELT really like an upgrade after so many years.
@@dzulhasnikhomaini6148 I agree! I think it's so stupid for companies to charge expensive items for Intel Celeron. I'm buying a second hand HP Spectre 2016 next week because I can now afford it. Guess what? A brand new Acer with Intel Celeron, manufactured in 2020 is equal price to HP Spectre from 2016. Spectre: i5, 256 GB. Date: 2016 Brand New Acer: Intel Celeron, 32 GB Date: 2020 Same price. Absolutely ridiculous.
@@castle_novelist I've had a horrible time looking first at £500-600 new laptops... then £500-600 second hand laptops from 2018... and then realising my 2012 Zenbook is more powerful than both. £1200+ for a new laptop I'll like, or £60 for a replacement battery. Hm.
Uncle Spurt hope your well and refreshed after the festive season I'll looking for a 2 in 1 Chromebook would you and your extensive large knowledge of gadgetry suggest a good one. I thought the Asus flip C436 do you approve. Or is there better cheers Love you 😁👍
Well in my experience with Microsoft their customer service and hardware quality are still much superior than dell. Microsoft normally will replace a new unit if its hardware related. I had very bad experience with dell xps, they tried to fix it for months, tried not to refund me until i filed complaint to our local consumer court spent 2k usd wit all the trouble.
15 is definitely the best.. I was going to get the XPS 15 but then I heard of all the people who sent it back because of it’s really faulty track pad so I decided to avoid it. I didn’t want the M1 Mac Pro as it wasn’t optimised for photoshop which is what I need. So I’m thinking the XPS 13 is a good substitute it’s decently fast, touch display, good for photoshop
I've read complaints of this black screen issue in the dell reviews on their site. I saw one of the dell reps reply with a link to updated graphics drivers.
@@gobofraggel7383 I'll probably find out soon enough, as I should be receiving my review unit very shortly...hopefully before the end of this coming week. Obviously, upon receiving it, the FIRST thing I'll be doing is running Windows Update, until there's aren't any, as well as checking Dell's & Intel's websites for ant updates drivers.
Very good, and funny, as always - just missing a review of the Dell active stylus. I might buy one just so my voice sounds sexy too when I next call your mum ;)
I was excited to see you review a 2 in 1 yay... only to have my smile turned into a frown... You completely missed the target audience for a 2 in 1, and that is those that want pen support... for those who don't want two separate devices (laptop and tablet with pen) to read pdf's, highlighting and write notes directly on device - eg students, and be entirely paperless. If you don't need pen support and touch on one device, by all means, go for your standard vanilla laptop buy.
I managed to rack up $800 in Dell credits and another $200 in credit card rewards points. So many things I can buy but this laptop is calling out to me.
Hi, I'm currently using an old ipad pro which I love but , I'm need to change to a laptop something I can use for my studies but that is lightweight that I can still use my data sim in. I would preferable 2 in 1 that is fast but very capable for lots of different task. Can you suggest anything?
Look for a Dell 5289 with cellular. The only difference between this one and the older model is the CPU. I'm using one as I write this, so I can confirm little else has changed. And it's $250-$400 used.
The Latitude 5289 is a great one to have. Mine is a 2018 model, and costs between £400-500. It has all the same features, including video chipset. The only difference is the generation of the processor.
@@HUYI1 idk where you live and if that affects things but the lenovo flex 5 14" with AMD processors as well as lenovo ideapad 5 (i think also with AMD processors) are very popular budget options. there might be warranty issues for those living outside the US, but it might be a good place to start
I'd make a drinking game where you take a shot every time he says the name of the product he is reviewing but at this point I might as well skull an entire bottle of vodka at the end of every video. Much love.
I have the same laptop but I got a problem when I want to use the tablet mode and I turn the screen 360° it turns off can someone tell me why please is there something I can modify to use it
It IS soldered AND it's NOT PCI-E 4.0 which the system is capable of! Too bad as the standard 9310 has a user replaceable nvme and slapping a 980 Pro in there gets crazy speeds in excess of 6GB/S!
About the black screen you are absolutely reason its appear to me few time and i dont really know the cause i have i v updated my windows to the last one win11 still have the same problem
Another RU-vidr low-key promoting Apple products in a Window's review. iPads aren't computers and MBs aren't 2-in-1s so zero reason to mention either of them. HP, MS, Lenovo, Acer, and Samsung on the other hand...
why people will spend huge money and use Window shit over it. no matter what hardware we can have, the window is shit. Macbook is better even without feature.
I feel your pain brother. Been a Mac user since 2011. Never going back to that shitty Windows ever again. Recently bought the M1 Macbook Air. It's just so much better than Intel or AMD laptops. My Intel i7 Macbook Pro used to heat up a lot. The M1 just doesn't heat. It's an absolute joy to use. Recently installed Windows 11 insider preview with Parallels 17. Best of both worlds. Couldn't ask for anything more.
DON'T BUY XPS 9310 LAPTOP Series. This series has a screen flickering problem and all users are struggling with it and even Dell is not able to fix it. I have received my New laptop and it has screen flickering problem and Dell doesn't know how to fix it. DON'T BUY XPS.
@@keishabarwise4208 it doesn't change brightness automatically though. But my problem is very random. It blacks out first the followed by many lines on the screen then back to normal. This whole things happens for 2-3 secs. Also, Some times the laptop hangs after that also ( but not that often).
@@sbrahma2006 i am hearing it might be fixed with the January graphics update. Please update if you see any improvement. Also how bad is the webcam. (There might be multiple replies here, i thought u replied but can't seem to find it)
I had 2 XPS in one month. Both has bluetooth issues. The second one has a nonworking touchpad. Dell do not want to give me a refind. Do not buy this XPS.
