Dell XPS 13 Lines on Screen [Fixed]

This video shows how to fix a problem where lines appear on the screen of a Dell XPS 13 running Windows 10. The lines seemed to appear any time there was motion on the screen, such as when the mouse was moved or when a video was playing. I was able to resolve this by changing the framerate from 60hz to 40hz.

Windows 11: right click on desktop > display settings > advanced display. Then select the reduced frame rate. Worked like a charm. Thank you!

Reducing the refresh rate to 48Hz (didn't get 40Hz option) seemed to reduce it for me.

i set mine to 60 hz for battery and pluged in, it worked for me

It's only about driver problem, so simply you just uninstall recent driver then everything will back to normal

How to do that. Can you pls tell. My laptop was running fine and I had to leave it there for abt half an hour or so. And when I returned, the computer had rebooted and there was this vertical line. I am presuming a windows update must have happened. My refresh rate is currently 60hz.

@@twisted7435 No. In tact there are no vertical lines even in windows till about a 10 to 15 mins after restart. Only after 15 mins of running, suddenly the vertical line pops up on the main windows screen and then it appears on any other program running on it. If I shut down and restart, then the same thing repeats, ie, there are no vertical lines in the start up screen prior to windows loading and in the windows screen uptil about 15 mins into usage.

@@seemamp4929 open "device manger" by right click on "this PC", then find and expand "display adapter". Now you just need to rollback or uninstall current display/graphics driver and replace it by installing previous driver version which might not cause that screen issue I hope this method can solve your problem 😊
