Let's take a look at the Dell XPS 15 9530 with the Arc A370 GPU. Is this base model Dell XPS 15 a good budget choice or is it to underpowered and just a waste of money?

Ive been looking at this computer for about 3 years and finally purchased it during a BB sale, I dont think I would be happy paying full price for it but discounted by $400 yes it is worth it to me. I replaced a 5 year old lenovo thinkpad carbon which I loved but it was aging . I think the typing experience is superior on the thinkpad beats the xps but I wanted a small package 15" laptop and this ticks that box. I dont game but just need something portable for light office work and bill paying- net cruising - photo editing on the go

You're absolutely right that the M-series MacBook broke the mold. By comparison it makes otherwise good battery life look bad. I admit that my 16" M1 Pro (base) biased me against my 9530. It's my only "complaint" about the XPS. It's a solid, solid laptop. I have an upper-end iteration with an i9 and rtx 4070, 32G ram. This thing flies. Even the FHD+ looks really good.

Thanks for your thoughts. I wonder what you think about the Snapdragon Elite X chips that should be coming out or Intel's future with the trajectory of their new Chips. Can they catch Apple, maybe even surpass them or does being windows based hold them back, Apple is to far ahead? Just curious.

@@CrashWilcox I can't say I have any. I do know I'm rooting for Qualcomm and Intel. I don't think any of us wants Apple to become complacent!

I got one open box, for a 13700h processor with basic and step above iris graphics its future proof for any productivity like office and adobe should be great but not for high demanding video editing or gaming but overall at open box bestbuy south of 900$ its a very good machine

I just bought this as a cyber security student at university, so you think I can also use it for streaming on twitch ? I got the i7 13 h series with arc a370 and 16gb ram I’m a bit nervous because of the lack of reviews but overall good review and Thank you

I think if you are just using it as a streaming machine, it will do just fine. If you are trying to game on it while streaming, it will likely struggle.

Yes, I think it would work. It will limit you some if you get into large projects but I think you could make do with it.

@@CrashWilcox Even Dell sells 300-400 dollars laptops, new from their website. Now that's what we can call a budget laptop, not something around 1000!
