Welcome to HowFixit! In this video, I'll take you through a step-by-step guide on how to disassemble Dell XPS 15 9570 laptop, clean its fans, and replace the thermal paste. Our comprehensive tutorial will equip you with the knowledge of fixing laptop overheating issues. From disassembling your laptop to cleaning the fan and heatsink from dust and applying thermal paste, we've got you covered. Say goodbye to overheating and hello to improved performance!
* Laptop Disassembly Guide:
Disassembling your laptop may seem daunting, but I'll break it down into easy-to-follow steps. You'll learn how to remove the laptop's casing, locate and clean the heatsink and fans, and access to CPU for thermal paste replacement. By following this guide, you'll gain a deeper understanding of your laptop's internals and how to keep it running smoothly.
* Fan Cleaning Techniques:
Dust and debris can accumulate in your laptop's fans and heatsink over time, leading to reduced airflow and increased temperatures. I'll show you effective methods to clean your laptop using an antistatic brush and proper handling techniques. By keeping your cooling system clean, you'll prevent overheating and extend the lifespan of your laptop.
* Thermal Paste Replacement:
Thermal paste plays a crucial role in transferring heat from the laptop's CPU and GPU to the heatsink. However, over time, a thermal paste can dry out and lose its effectiveness. I'll guide you through the process of removing the old thermal paste and applying a fresh, high-quality one. This step is vital for optimal heat dissipation and temperature management. Don't let an overheating laptop slow you down! Watch this comprehensive guide and take control of your laptop's temperature. By performing regular fan cleaning and thermal paste replacement, you'll ensure smooth operation, prevent hardware damage, and extend the life of your laptop. @ 1:03, a Torx Screwdriver size T5 is used to remove the 10 periphery Torx screws. @ 1:17, a Phillips Screwdriver size #0 is used to remove the 2 Phillips screws by the Service Number identification tag.

Do you by any chance have the issue where your battery percentage will randomly go from say, 50%, right down to around 5% after you turn your laptop on? And if so, did the battery replacement help?
@bxltika
@bxltika 2 года назад
@@WillisDyson I have had this while it battery was still under guarantee. It did help, but you should probably try all the other solutions first like completely depleting and fully charging your battery a few times over

No need to spread thermal paste, just increases the chance of bubbles. Single line down the middle is best for rectangular, or a cross for square die.

Which is the CPU cooling fan and which is the Video cooling fan? Or are they the same fan P/N?

Battery does not need to be disconnected if power is shutdown. Never had to disconnect battery for internal cleaning. Also needs compressed air to bow inside fans to get clumps of dust out. A brush will not do that.
@mejaiss392
@mejaiss392 9 месяцев назад
Always better to be safe and unplug the power, and yes compressed air is a lifesaver it will blow out the dust inside that you can't reach. But if you don't have access to it, you can always disassemble the fan itself and clean it throughly
@nickelfront

would i be able to just take the dust off of my fans without having to take off the heat sync as well?

thats what i did, got a new paint brush on the fans and gave them a good clean but im going to give the thermal paste a go. the secret is not to use too much :)

Hi, I disassimbled the same laptop to change the keyboard, then the fan on the right was always on. tried cleaning it and also I updated the BIOS but it didn't stop. Any ideas?

I re-applied the thermal paste on my XPS 15 9550, but I wasn't happy with idle CPU temperature in the 40-45C range. I think my mistake was not spreading the thermal paste using some tool to ensure even coverage of the CPU & GPU. I'll definitely have to try that. Also, I wanted to undervolt, but it looks like Dell removed that ability with recent BIOS updates. I'm not sure if it's worth it trying to downgrade the BIOS for this capability. I welcome anybody's input on this matter.
@Kanuk97
@Kanuk97 3 года назад
Honestly, wouldn't downgrade due to security reasons from previous version, I'd repaste.
@meh8650
@meh8650 2 года назад
I know this is a little late, but now you can't unlock undervolting/overclocking by downgrading the BIOS since the Intel ME thing doesn't downgrade with it. If you want to undervolt, you need to modify the BIOS itself, which is super tedious but in the end it's worth it.
