Obviously she has great respect for Mahalia Jackson. I think the total was intended to be humorous. Miss. Jackson was THE greatest Gospel singer the world has ever known.
Mrs. Della Reese, I love you. I know that title got a lot of people watching this. Clever move. But it's not misleading. A child wanting to run wild and break rules would hate an authoritarian. But with maturity comes wisdom and that hate turned into great appreciation and the pinnacle of all emotions, love!
Della was beautiful, an author, actress, singer, mother, wife, minister. A trailblazer, she had a talk show- variety show in the 60's. Amazing! I have so much from reading her autobiography. Everyone should find it and read it! You will then see how STRONG she was!!! Phenomenal woman! Rest in power Our Beloved!!!

I've NEVER known Ms. Della Reese to HATE anyone. This woman came to my mother and asked her came she take me on the road with her. The same thing that Mahalia Jackson did with Ms. Della Reese. So please if your going to tell the story tell the truth. Not that I needed to mention this but I am Solomon Burke First Daughter, First Child born to him and his widow wife Doris Burke. I've kept slient for a very long time and this woman is beautiful so stop the lies.....
I agree with you, Ms. Gresham. I do not like the Video Title, either. I almost DID NOT click on the Video because of the Title, because there is enough DRAMA in the world. However, I am glad that I DID click. Therefore, to the person who uploaded this Video (savoygreen), please note: "You could actually be LOOSING viewers because of this "negative" Title." I was curious to see what lies were being spread, so I allowed my curiosity (or, perhaps it was the leading of God, since HE knew the ACTUAL content of the story) to click on the Video IN SPITE of the negative title. To God Be the Glory.
The title is a clever ploy to get us to watch and we did. In this instance the word "hated" was used in playful terms, so it is misleading in that sense, but the story is one of positivity and inspiration.
She did not hate her she's making jokes about having a mentor. She is a comedienne, any young girl has the same feelings of not wanting mentor/chaperon/supervisor watching every move...

Thanks Mobonce. If "hate" was in quotes, it would have still effected interest and intrigue and been true to its actual meaning. This is actually a testament to the late and great Mahalia Jackson as a person of character and not just as a singer.
Oh my, what a wonderful story! growing up in Iowa during the mid-fifties, all we had were 2 or 3 TV stations. They would often run short films of singers at sign off (usually at 9PM). Burl Ives, Jimmy Dean, etc. But to my recollection, they ran Mahalia the most. And that was where I got my love for music. Incredible influence! Just as important as seeing Chuck Berry on AB.
Savooy Green's Channel should really consider changing the Title on this Awesome Video of Della Reese's recollection of her Mentor, the Great Mahalia Jackson. It was placed to sensationalized but it does not serve Ms Reese to be misinterpreted! Della Loved Mahalia Jackson and she learned alot from the Gospel Singer.
The title was NOT misleading in my opinion. It served the purpos dce for which the uploader intended; getting all you messy people looking for something " juicy" to watch; because the SAD reality is that people are attracted to "mess" and juicy gossip. Once your undivided attention had been obtained, you were given beauty and light in the place of ugliness and darkness. i LOVE it.

I as well love to listen to both songtress's sing, and I also agree that the producer that titled the lie is a liar! Della was speaking of good times with Mahilia when she traveled with her as a young woman...don't mislead! Keep it straight if you want a following.
I thank you, I felt this was not right! I am going to avoid viewing this after reading title and comments. Also Reverend Reese and The Meditation Singers were something else as was Miss Jackson. There's a reason why this video is still buffering, I am not supposed to watch it.
Dont mis understand people by the title. Mrs Della reese did not hate Mother Mahalia Jackson. She just wanted to be young and free at that time when she was young.
This title is definitely misleading!!! Ms. Reese was telling about when she traveled with Ms. Jackson as a young woman, and she wanted to go out with the young men, but "Mahalia stood in the way" of that. Getting on into the story, it is very obvious that she respected Ms. Jackson very much.
It's funny of those who complain about the title and yet, you came here to hear what she "hated" about Mahalia...tricky title, a bit of gossip and we still came and hit play, so get over it - I'm glad I saw this video. oh and it's 2018.
I agree..that's jus inconsiderate to the viewing audience and not only the stupid video has no sound..how crass is that..the the title alone is mean how could anyone not like Mother Mahalia..a woman that had a beautiful spirit that loved people and loved God more
It is enough negative in the world. I was getting ready to pass this video but I could not believe the title I knew it had to have some good instead of bad in it. But most people I believe will pass on listen to bad. Because no matter what there is more good in this world I like to believe than bad.

Should change the title of this video savoygreen. How in the world could Della hate - someone that helped her in her life and career.That's like hating your mother - for showing you how to carry yourself so people will respect you.
