Dellorto Sidedraft Carburettors Inner workings 

Thanks v ery much,this was very useful,I have exactly this Dellorto DHLA 40 H carb on my Alfetta Gtv 2.0 litre ,have removed it to clean it up and his has given me some basicv insight to the inner workings.

sucking the fuel mixture from the carburettor is the auxillary venturies. As the air travels through it it creates a vacuum in the smaller tube inside it sucking the mixture from the emulsion tube.

Yes fitting a turbo to a bmw 6 using sidedrafts is possible. u need to seal the carbs and biuld a plenum for the carbs. i am going to make a video on how to turbo convert for sidedrafts.

Bryce sorry for the late reply. I just finished a video for a 36 Dellorto IDF I fitted to my VW Jetta. It performs very well. I can do a video on the innner working for the idf. Just give me some time. Mean time if you need any info let me know.

8:30 is not air correction jets, thats the idle mixture screws. air correction jets sits on top of the emulsion tubes. I´m sure its just a slip of the tongue :) good video

Hi jerseyboy thank you so much for sharing this video...It has been a huge help as I have just undertaken a rebuild of my dellorto dlha40's and used your video as reference so thank you heaps. Wouldn't have been able to do it without this video :) if I can make a request, can you put a video on how to tune these things? I am having idling problems and the car will only idle nice with a little bit of choke otherwise it stalls. Thank you!!

What size jets do you recommend for a tuned motor running twin Dellorto 40 H? Im trying to build this bakkie in remembrance of my Grandfather. 3. If im boosting trough the carbs is there any tips you can give me sir ? I appreciate your time and hopefully you can help me with guidance🙏🙏

hi, nice tutorial...but I need to ask you one thing: Why is so dificult to remove my pump jets, one of each carburatour seems not coming out at all, even using a small plier, I'm damadging them and not coming out, is this normal? does this pump jets move when needed because they had a spring inside it?!

Hello Jerseyboy , I have the same set of carbs but I have seen there is a difference in some of the esprit turbo carbs. Some have some kind of flexible line attachement where the throttle return spring is hooked to on top on the flat head screw. Do you know why this is and also what should be onnected to the tube next to the Dellorto stamp by the right valve? Is this vacuum and could it be used for a blow off valve? Thanks!! I was just wondering how you set your float height on the dellorto dhla. Do you dip from the main stack down to the liquid and aim for 27mm. or set the floats at 15mm from the cap.

Hi Jerseyboy I have dollortos 40 H carbs it refs nice 8rpm but when I drive for higher rpm it brake off won't go on higher 7-8 full rpm s can u help

But I opened up my dellortos today and realised it doesn't have any ideling jets in any of the twin sides. Why? Maybe someone took it out before? But anyway.. I would love to know what would be the perfect jets to put into it for a vw golf.. Thank you..

Quick question: I keep getting off idle hesitation especially when first started when warm or when cold, pump jet is 40 vertical. Tried the new type and it made it worse. Engine is a big 8 valve 1.8 ford cvh ported and fast road cam. Does it need bigger pump jets?

Hello jerseyboynaz. I installed a set of dhla 40's and I need pump jets, the ones I have are vertical and I would like the ones where they jet into the cylinder through the manifold. Where do I buy these. I need them asap. Please. And Thank you in advance. Aswell as somone who can set them for me.

thats not how the float level should be adjusted!
