In this video we attempt to repair a DeLonghi ESAM 6700 coffee machine with a display problem. The replacement LCD screen is this one:

It was purchased from Germany here:

Note there are 2 versions available and I purchased the 33 ohm version. I think it controls the screen brightness and figured you can just short out the resistor to make it the 0 ohm version but it seems bright enough so no need.

Similar problem here with ECAM 23450 display blue light is still on but it's completely blank :( You are sure handy! Congrats on that repair!

Meg lehet javitani!!! Én is sokáig küszködtem mire megtaláltam a megoldást. És tökéletes,nem kell cserélni semmit. Akit érdekel irjon privátba. Magyarul irom le,részletesen. Nagyon egyszerü. Remélem tudok sok embernek segiteni vele.

Szia, tudnál nekem segíteni ? Egy Primadonna Avant ESAM6700-asom van minek elromlott az LCD kijelzője (nem mutat semmit és kék háttér sincs). Mit lehet vele kezdeni ?

Thanks. I know you can send board off to get repaired properly but thought I'd give it a go. My machine is still working!

most videos skip the part when you connect the buttons ribbon to the display. you have to pull out the black pressure contact at the port, insert the ribbon, then press it down. otherwise this video was really good.

Can also be fixed by reflowing dry joints. Look for q9 and q5

Nice. I can't see q9 or q5 on the board. Is it part of the actual lcd? I broke mine trying to remove it as don't have a proper solder station :(

@@amp9438 going from memory, left hand side top corner not far from the to cap's close to the display. I reflowed most of parts. and got it back working.

Hi Andy, I know, 2 years later .... I have slightly different board 5513220051, backlight still on but no display. would you remember what board did you fix? I found Q5 on the left top side of the board near the display but Q9 is all the way down. Thanks

Can you advise how you removed the black plastic cover to access the PCB? It is thoroughly sealed with adhesive tape and I feel like I will break it if too much force is applied.

I used a hair dryer on low heat to gently soften the seal. So heat while trying to lift the cover, but don't use too much force. You could also try Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) to soften the glue on the seal but didn't try it myself.

I don't have a wiring diagram but its basically pin 1 to pin 1, 2 to 2 etc. The link in the description has a data sheet for the lcd

Do you know how to take the top panel off? Everytime I try it tries to take internals with it as im trying to swap heating element on this model

With the side panels off there are 4 screws I think. Also there is 1 on the grinding selector lever. You need to remove the plastic cap and use a long screwdriver.
