thanks so much for this video!! i just recently got my own delonghi, though the instructions were a little confusing. your video helped me understand the set-up a lot better, and i breezed through to my first at-home latte 😊
This was incredibly helpful! For those that have a hard time getting the water to come out initially, my lid just wasn't closed all the way. Lol Worked like a charm after it clicked.
@anasmohamed7119 The main lid. I thought the water container wasn't in properly and kept fiddling with it. Then I reopend and snapped the top shut and it worked.
Just bought this and I'm pretty happy with it especially given the machine I had before it. I wish I had seen this video before I first used it because I didn't run a whole tank of water through the machine before I used it. Oops. Hopefully that didn't mess with anything on the machine or add harmful chemicals to my drinks. Great machine for the price in my opinion.
Nice! I think you're probably okay. It's mostly a sterilization thing the first time so as long as you didn't get sick, you're fine. Totally a great machine for the price! I passed this one on to my brother in law and he's enjoying it.
I’m loving how easy this machine is, however, my portafilter is always very wet when making the espresso, it pulls fast, I tried tamping and adding more grounds. I’m using a decent quality illy brand espresso.
If your shots are pulling too quickly, my recommendation would be to adjust the grind of your espresso so it’s a little finer. This will slow down the extraction process. I hope that helps, enjoy your machine!
I just purchased this for a great price ($60) and really loving it. Mine is not noisy like comments I have seen on this product on other videos. I just need to find a better espresso blend to use as the Medalgia D'oro I bought doesn't seem to be the one for my tastes and preferences. Any recommendations?
Awesome! Mine really isn’t noisy either. So glad you are loving it! Have you ever had Klatch coffee? Their beans are incredible. They even do a subscription service.
How do I know if I’ve ground my beans too fine or not fine enough? And when should I know to stop the machine? I was gifted this machine and I’ve been so excited to start using it as I’ve always wanted to pull my own espresso shots. I finally got a good bean grinder, just looking for a reliable scale for consistency. This video is fanatic for a first time user. Thank you!
Great question. If they are too fine; the shots will barely trickle out and the shots will take too long to pull. If they are too coarse, the shots will pull too fast. With this machine, it typically pulls a double shot within 10-12 seconds but some like the shots pulled longer. It’s a personal preference but I wouldn’t go less than 8-10 seconds.
Oh and I use shot glasses from Amazon with measurement lines on them so I know where to stop. Just search for espresso shot glasses on Amazon and you’ll see them.
@@budgetbarista Just bought this machine yesterday and this is EXACTLY what I could not figure out. I had no idea how to know when enough water ran through, so thank you so much for this info!
Hi Thank you for your review. I just recently bought this machine. I used to have a Senseo that used ESE pods so seeing this machine also can use those I bought it. My old Senseo did not use a portafilter. Im not experienced with those so I have a question. My machine is new but the portafilter is difficult to attach because its kinda tight. I saw you hold your machine to get your portafilter on that's what I have to do also but mine is more of a struggle than yours. How is it now a year later getting your portafilter on is it easier to attach ?
Thank you for your comment and congrats on your new machine. The Portafilter is still tight on mine. It’s possible using the pods is making it tighter that normal but I don’t have any experience with those.
@@budgetbarista I actually am on my second machine in less than a month. I returned the first because getting the portafilter on was such a challenge and if it wasn't far enough at 6 o'clock or near the water wouldn't come out. I only used it a few times. My newest which I only received this past weekend I haven't made any coffee yet. My new machines portafilter is a little better than the last machine and not such a struggle. So hopefully.... The machine is nice the only problem I have is the difficulty attaching the portafilter. Here's to good coffee ☕
hi!!! would you mind pulling a shot of hot water only and taking it’s temperature? i have a cheap espresso machine which i noticed is pulling shots at around 145° which isn’t nearly hot enough for espresso so i’m considering taking it back for this one but now i want to be sure before i make the switch 🥺 thank you!
Thanks for the comment! It's reading around 180°. For the best results with this machine, you can prime the portafilter without coffee in it to warm it up before extracting your shot. That way it's already warm when your shot is pulled and won't be cooled down by a cold portafilter.
So I just turned mine on and no water comes through at all. It just keeps going and going. Checked every part and everything SEEMS to work. Looks like it's faulty :(
Hi there, thank you for the comment. So sorry to hear you’re having trouble! Read the comment thread started by Brittany. Some of the advice I gave her might be helpful to you. I hope you get it working.
@@budgetbarista thanks for the quick reply. I went through all the scenarios and it still seems to be a dud. Neither the portafilter nor the steamer work. The steamer does steam but never really pushes out a stream of water like in your video. I also watched the water in the back and it seems to not really be pulled into the machine and sort of stays out. I tested the drain inside the machine that pulls in the water and it seems to work fine. Very puzzled. Seems like it may be an internal issue
It’s hard to say without qualifying what “too loud” means to you. Are we talking too loud to have a conversation over? Too loud to operate while on the phone? Mine was decently loud while pulling shots but not so loud I couldn’t have a conversation with someone next to me.
Hi there, I’m so sorry to hear that. Scroll down and see Brittany Wennberg’s comment. She was having the same problem and and I walked her through how to troubleshoot.
I recieved one for Christmas and I am finally having time to try and use it. I was unboxing right along with you, but my machine isn't draining water once I turn it to the mug symbol. I tried to make sure I had the tank pushed all in the right spot. Is there something else I could check?
Hi Brittany, what a great gift! Interesting. Did you wait for the green light to turn on before turning the dial? Is your portafilter inserted when you're doing this? Is it possible the lever for the steam wand is partially depressed? Just thinking through a few possible scenarios... Keep me posted and let m know if any of that worked. If it doesn't, maybe something is blocking the flow of water out of the reservoir. Let me know!
@@budgetbarista thanks so much for your quick reply!! I checked all the things you mentioned and just tweaked a few things. And it's working now! Operator error 🤦🏼♀️ I think my portafilter needed a smidge turned 🤷🏼♀️ Thanks for taking me through some ideas of what to look for
@@budgetbarista hi I am having the same problem, I am just setting it up for the first time and no water is coming out. I have the portafilter turned as far as it will go and I waited until the ready light came on..
@@bobbykay3133 So sorry to hear that! Make sure the black switch that turns off and on the steam/hot water is not depressed. It should be in the locked position, parallel to the top of the machine. Try switching it to the steam function, wait for the light to turn green and see if the steam wand produces steam. This will tell us if water is getting into the machine from the reservoir or not. Just thinking through a few possible scenarios... Keep me posted and let m know if any of that worked.
I need help …. I’m doing everything you did , but when I’m done with my coffee and go to take off there is still lots of water gathered its not a solid coffee 🥴
Hi there, sorry you are having trouble with your machine! Take a look at the comment thread started by brittanywennberg8027 below. You'll find some things you can try.
I let the machine rest for about 30 seconds to a minute in between drinks. The pressure buildup is not nearly as bad with this machine as others I've used but you still want to give it a minute before removing the portafilter to reload so it doesn't blow out on you.
Hi there, congrats on your new machine! Here are some things you can try... Is the lid for the water reservoir fully shut, so it clicks? Is your portafilter inserted all the way? Is it possible the lever for the steam wand is partially depressed?
