Delta Airlines L-1011 Tristar - in Miami, San Juan and Los Angeles International Airports

Featured here are various models of the advanced ahead of it's time storied Lockheed L-1011 Tristars of Delta Air Lines. One of the coolest or unique looking jetliners ever.
They are seen as follows:
Aircraft N764DA Lockheed Tristar L-1011-3(500) model pushing off the gate at Miami Intl Airport.
An Unknown Reg.L-1011-500 arriving in San Juan.
Aircraft N1738D Lockheed Tristar L-1011-1-15 (250) model seen taxiing and departing San Juan.
Aircraft N735D Lockheed Tristar L-1011-1(1) model arriving at LAX and towed.
N1732D Lockheed Tristar L-1011-1(1) model on maintenance ramp.
Now amid all that Tri-jet action are some very nicely placed gems!
Like the American Airlines 757 Retrojet & Wunala Dreaming schemed British Airways World Tail 747.

Oh this was so beautiful I remember these days so well going to Puerto Rico in the 90s on Tristars. Look at the ATRS the original American Eagle & being with my parents. So many good memories..

What a truly remarkable and beautiful aircraft. The smooth blended tail and incorporated engine design are so much more graceful and attractive than the awkward DC-10 .

Nice, thank you so much. I watch everything I can of these beauties; people need to know what a special aircraft this was. The airlines were way too quick to upgrade, these planes had tons of life left in them due to the way they were overbuilt with redundancy. Long live the TriStar L-1011!!!

Amazing work - Capturing the Tristar at it's very best!! (the BA 744 looks a bit boring compared to the L1011 - I was never a fan of those tails, although it used to make me laugh at LHR when you had about 30-40 photographers trying to shoot a 757 with a new image on the tail!!) Great plane the Tristar ,I flew on a few with BA ,it's a shame the manufacturers didn't make a son of Tristar (like the MD11) . The ground shots up close (tail-engine) at the end show what the L1011 was all about.

As much as I enjoyed that one TWA ride of many..the Eastern rides were the best always a pleasure. I did only 1 Delta L-1011 ride into Atlanta and nothing special there. But I'm glad I shot what i did of the big beauty but again as well all know..I wish I had been shooting earlier to catch BA Tristars - wouldn't a wavy Jack look cool on that thing?! I'm certain we're just a couple months away where we can alter video footage to be what we wish - no questions asked! I'll be super busy then!

Flew on Delta's L-1011 twice, first time in January 1979 (ATL - MCO) and second time in February 1994 (DFW - LAX). The best jumbo jet of them all!!

Such a beautiful aircraft...only a few crashes mostly due to pilot error (Eastern 401) and weather (Delta 191)...real shame the DC-10 (which had design flaws and more high-profile crashes) was favored by most airlines over the L-1011...

truly remarkable video L1011 Tristar was the plane to fly back in the day got to ride it many times i prefer it over the dc10 but i still like both

Hey Flash, thanks. I threw the BA in there because a SB76 fan wanted to see one AND I was pne of those nutty shooters out there trying to catch those World Tails - they're great collector items! I also had great number of Tristar rides on Eastern, TWA and Delta..my best ride - TWA from Heathrow to Philadelphia in First..the coldest beer EVER at 36000ft..I can still feel that chill..I don't know why but is memory that I will never forget. Eastern, I told all the way down to Lima & Santiago SCL!

It's the same the world over - here at LHR ,Virgin are now flying 10 A330's you barely see the 346's flying , although they still have lots, the change is happening!......

You have no idea how pissed I am about MSY footage being so fn rare! My first National DC-10 was from IAH to MSY, I flew that intentionally 1- to see MSY 2. To fly a NA DC-10. I have a small amount of MSY footage but I want get more to make a small tribute to that airport. I’ll find it, somehow someway but I will find it. I want a 747 there.

@@Starboard76 Amazing! My very first trip was BI Braniff International up to Shreveport. It was easter egg blue BAC One Eleven, if I recollect, but it could have been a 727. I was only 5 years old at the time. 1968. ALWAYS loved MSY. ALWAYS have always will!
