The magic of this soundtrack was how, while I played the game, it felt very nostalgic. It wasn't just due to Undertale either, this felt like something I was replaying from much longer ago even though it wasn't. Most of it was in the music though. Maybe it was how Toby infused certain warm feelings into these songs, used some old yet distinctive and underused musical styles (some from late 70s/early 80s that I heard a few times as a kid) which pointed to very specific moments in my young life, and certain soundfonts used in many classic games from our childhoods. But then there may have also been the use of leitmotifs tying them all together in a very subtle way, making new pieces sound familiar as they went. Subtle and hidden enough that the mind hadn't realized that it only recently first started hearing the pattern, it just goes "Oh, I know part of this, it's familiar." Like, I didn't even notice the running motifs at first. It was only until the beautiful credits song, that it clicked with me: "Oh wow! I've been hearing parts of this theme this whole time!" And that compounded with the feelings the song evoked, and I teared up a little. It was an amazing feeling. :') Upon later listens, I VERY easily heard the shared pattern of "Don't Forget" woven throughout the whole thing. It seems so obvious in hindsight. But on first go, while concentrating on gameplay, it was practically subliminal. The leitmotifs were so effective at evoking newstalgia (credit to comicalbanana elsewhere in the comments for that term), in fact, that when I first came to The Field of Hopes and Dreams, I very quickly thought, "Oh yeah! Hopes and Dreams! So awesome to hear that UT song again here!" :D ....It WASN'T the Hopes and Dreams song from UT at all. But the title calling forth the memory of it, combined with the nostalgic soundfonts AND the leitmotif my brain was labeling as familiar, all combined in an audio illusion that tricked me into thinking I was listening to a familiar song when I wasn't! I tell ya, Toby Fox has a magical talent and amazing skill to use it to the fullest. I've never had such an awesome trick pulled on me before. I think it also happened to a couple Let's Players too (I forget though, it's been a while) at that particular part. Wonder if anyone else who stumbles upon this comment can share a similar experience. I love getting to re-appreciate Toby's musical works by witnessing others appreciate them. :)

the first chapter of deltarune, aka the "demo", is around 3-4 hours for one playthrough. the average playthrough of undertale is 6-7 hours. if this game has 4 chapters, it will probably be twice as long as undertale. that is insane

you can clearly see how much hes enjoying the music. love that xD
