Since teres major is a medial rotator of the humerus how does it act synergistically with the posterior deltoid fibers, which you are saying externally rotates?

How thick is a typical deltoid muscle in most people (non athletes/bodybuilders)? I ask because I notice they recommend up to 1.5 inch needles when doing IM injections at a 90 degree angle. Just curious how much thickness on average there is until you reach bone.

I read these sentences regarding fracture of humerus shaft and need help in understanding them: "with fractures above the deltoid insertion, the proximal fragment is adducted by pectoralis major. With fractures lower down, the proximal fragment is abducted by the deltoid." I'm not able to picturise this statement. Thanks in advance!

Is the rotator cuff a single muscle or a set of muscles or tendons

Its a set of muscles. U can remember them by the acronym SItS muscle: Supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres MINOR ( thats why its a small t) and subscapularis. It cant be palpated individually u consider it as a unit.

+Nagasaski it is the serratus anterior muscle. I shall be covering this muscle in due course - stay tuned :-)
