Deluxe and Lightning Storm Megazord Toy Review (Power Rangers Ninja Storm Season 11)

Power Rangers Ninja Storm brought a New Zealand beginning to the franchise and Deluxe Storm Megazord became our first-ever three-zord main team Megazord. Though light on zord count, the thing was heavy in 'maximalism' and excessive detail throughout. The show and Bandai's toyline had a controversial 'solution' for this: Lightning Mode, a slimmed down (and sold separately) 2nd version of the Megazord.
Here's my take on the Wind Rangers' zords and why I love Ninja Storm, after how much I hated Wild Force!

I still have my original Storm Megazord and this season holds a special place in my heart cause I met my two lifelong best friends when Ninja Storm came out and we bonded over Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder.

Fun fact in the show, in the dub, the motorcycle was stolen by the evil rangers, when in the japanese version it was reversed, this is why the main team's cycles have thunderbolts on them despite thunder being the duo's theme.

The ball gimmick is actually inspired by GachaPon toys from Japan. Small capsule toys. Like a gumball machine, but with toys instead of candy. This is why the Ninja Storm Rangers used coins to unlock the power spheres. Its to replicate a kid putting a coin into a GachaPon machine.

They have similar ones here in the states but they're mostly in grocery store lines. They're Mostly just there so parents can get their kids candy and a small toy to keep them busy in the car

3:21 Actually, it's not the first time. Before they tried that gimmic with Kakuranger (also ninja themed series). There was a separate line of Mecha called Jyushou Fighters, which couldn't combine, but were more capable in battle, than their Giant Jyushou counterparts

I really like the Serpent Sword Triple Strike. the black bars on the top and bottom change the aspect ratio of the video making it more cinematic, then the swords pass through the black bars showing their power

Rewatched Ninja storm with a adult brain recently. It's FILLED with jokes. I laughed and laughed at it and it became my favorite season easily. I honestly wish more seasons had the attitude Ninja storm did.

The Thunder Rangers were probably the best ranger additions since Zero Gold and MMPR Green. Their aesthetic, suits, zords and combo attacks were second to none. Ninja Storm was truly a pinnacle of PR, even with it's campy moments not involving Bulk and Skull.

It's also a call back to Liveman, their first mecha was also a combination of a lion, a falcon, and a dolphin in the same colours.

I had this toy growing up (and the rest of their megazords) and it was great. But I never knew that the back panel on the lion zord raised up and I had it for years. Im a bit shook

I never watched Ninja Storm back when it aired, but i did have this megazord for awhile when they were selling it. It definitely had some cool ideas to it, but I don't think I played with it much. The design of the zords have grown on me though looking at them now. The Hawk Zord is probably my favorite for how Sleek it is and the fact that looking it heavily reminds me of the pokémon Talonflame (who is one of my favorite pokémon and was on one of my competitve teams during gen 6)

Usually when it's a new toy/figure I just want the reviewer to get to the figure. I don't care about the background or history or lore. They just use it to fill time. But when it's a classic toy I feel it applies more for sure. This was a great presentation and I had a lot of fun watching.

This is the season that got me back in. I was 22 and saw it one more and loved it. Funny you mention Buffy because when I started buffy is when I stopped watching PR and as it ended I got back into it.

When this show started airing (at the Noon timeslot if I'm not mistaken) I was so hyped when they formed the Megazord the first time, reminding me of Live Robo! Maybe that's why I love this season so much

I actually had the chance to buy one with a box, and it was complete a couple of years ago. I made the dumb decision of looking around the small Comic Con to see what else was there. But when I got back to the booth, they already sold it.

Ninja Storm was my childhood. I was flipping like crazy when all three megazords combined into one big ultra megazord. One things I'd say about the toys though, the C-clips and "Tenkujin's" rotor joint will break if you plug and unplug it too much. That said, I had the JP version, not the US version.

I own the Hurricanger version which has diecast metal in the legs, and other parts of the zord. Yes the blue dolphin is brittle. To solve that problem I used WD-40 at the clips. the down side of the Hurricanger version is the pain on the dolphin will fade over time. I will say it is incredibly heavy.

I don't know what you're talking about when you sat that Ninja Storm was a big deal to the future of Power Rangers and Megazords. Not only did they go back to Dinosaurs in the next season. They also brought back Tommy and made the three rangers just another version of Rocky/Jason, Billy, and Kimberly. Moreso they went back to limb-swapping like back in Wild Force.

I remember seeing a VHS of the first few eps for sale at a grocery store as a kid and being really confused that it even was Power Rangers because of the mesh sleeves on the ranger suits made it so unrecognisable to me

The power spheres weren't inspired by pokeballs, but were based on what pokeballs were based on: gachapon. They're basically gumball machines that dispense capsules with toys inside instead of candy. They're called karakuri balls in the sentai because they dispense robots. After all, real world karakuri puppets are basically clockwork robots.

I just recently started collecting zords again. Hardest part of the ninjastorm series is collecting the other spheres. They're just too damn expensive. Also trying to fix my revolver mammoth due to it not firing.

I've had breakage issues with the dolphin. Sorta. I actually have Senpuujin, and after combining it with Gouraijin one time as the shoulder turret, I pulled it and the clips came right off along with some of the bottom. The plastic making up its tail area is SO thin, it's basically a balloon ready to pop. I had to replace it with a used European dolphin zord, which as you've said is visually close enough. Welp!

Ah Ninja Storm, the season where i really started to switch off anytime it wasnt a zord fight or suit fights, and power rangers basically became a mostly toy watching/lusting after affair - and boy did it have some stonking zord and toy designs. Roll on the Thunder Storm/Gouraigers deep dive, those guys are one of my all time PR/Sentai favourites

The Power Spheres/Balls are basically Japanese Gashapon/Candy Toys. They tend to come in little plastic balls that you crack open as well.

The one season with the most cursed toys hopefully this gets new toys sometime but not immediately. P.S. Be careful with your Zords especially your dolphin They have have The infamous GPS (Gold plastic syndrome) extremely brittle and it doesn't help that They remove diecast for the first time since the Lightspeed rescue Megazord In 2000. GPS mostly came to prominence in mid Transformers G1 and has hit many of Bandai and Hasbro toylines.

From what _I_ remember, _Ninja Storm_ was rather derided at the time. Only three main Rangers (nothing new in Sentai of course, but was for PR), the initial idea of it being a continuity reboot (which was retracted, obviously), more comedic tone, first season to be under forty episodes... most thought this was _not_ a good start for the Disney run. Maybe that was a factor of the decision to bring back Tommy the next year (that's speculation on my part, though). Or am I remembering wrong, and it was loved at the time instead of nostalgically?

I love when the Zord turns into Lighten mode.. dude how much did these cost you. I would just only buy Ninja Storm Zords. All of them were awesome. The Thunder Zord for the Brothers were awesome as well. Cam had the best of them all though, but obviously because he was the “6th” Ranger. The Hurricane mega Zord was incredible. Interesting that you do this episode during hurricane season.

Hi everyone both clips behind the Lion Head on the Storm Megazord I have are broken on my Japanese version. Does anyone know a special way to separate the Lion head, apart as it seems to be riveted in and I can't separate it even after removing all the screws.

I really like this set! I have the Japanese version with more diecast metal, but that dolphin SUCKS. The tail always feels like it's about to break when I move it, and a bottom piece broke when I was removing it from the black tray.

As a kid I stopped watching after wild force. When I did watch some of it as a kid I didn't like it. I didnt like how there where only 3 core rangers and a Guinea pig as the mentor. But as an adult I've given it another go and it's become one of my favorite season. I'm really hoping for the minipla treatment for the Zords soon

They use a bunch of different keys to unlock different armor. As a sidenote I think you should continue watching it. I just finished season 2 and it's one of the very best in my opinion.

I legit hate this set, I own the Japan version myself. I got 3 Dolphins, 2 Japanese and 1 American version. 2 of them are broken, One of the Japanese and the American. I keep my other Japanese version Dolphin in the box untouched.I asked around it's the common problem after a while, the plastic becomes super brittle and transforming the Dolphin into an arm can make it explode.

dude, you literally mentioned the sentai at the start, why are you saying stuff like "this could of easily been the red rangers zord" when that was impossible due to the sentai having specific mecha tied to each sentai team member, not to mention the stock footage would make that more impossible, if it wasn't for super sentai we wouldn't have power rangers, naturally they needed to work around the limitations without ruining the source material to the point the stock footage was useless
