Brilliant. I do not practice BJJ but I remember wrestling matches in high school and even with all the conditioning I remember being absolutely gassed like running a marathon from single matches. Amazing endurance to execute your techniques while facing waves of opponenets with short rest periods. Congratulations!

i think round 5 looked dangerous for dj in the beginning. his opponent made a mistake in going out of bounds or dj tried to get an out of bounds call to reset himself. but after that call it was game over. respect to all participants.

DJ's ability to look at his match in a 3rd person POV, is unmatched. He seems to have a unique ability to see his own fight from ring side. I've been doing BJJ for 8 years on and off, but I can't figure out how he thinks the way he does, as quickly as he does, it's impressive.

@@Erick_0510 That depends on several variables. If you are athletic and a quick learner you could see it in about 10 years, at a realistic pace. I've been sitting at Purple for about 4 years now because I don't spend a lot of time in the gym. It really comes down to how many hours of mat time you can get in.

4:05 🥋 OSS 🙇‍♂️ The Wizard, Matt Hume! His match against Erik Paulson is still to this day one of the greatest MMA matches I’ve ever seen. Those dudes were so far ahead of their time and Matt’s career within the martial arts space as a coach, ref/judge, commissioner, etc. has proved his status within the industry. Much respect. Fork man. DJ is incredible. His versatility and ability to transition so smoothly is incredible. I don't know much about Jiu Jitsu but every opponent he had tried to pull guard from the bottom but he stayed composed and didn't fall into traps. DJ is also so quick its fun to watch! Overall love combat sports and seeing different disciplines.

Super impressive performance I watched all your matches live. I wasn’t sure how you be if you were trapped in someone’s guard and the guy had a legit lapel game but you breezed through it, thought it was impressive that you pulled guard too and we’re comfortable working from bottom. Think I just assumed you’d bring a more mma / nogi style of wresting into the gi comp but legit you’re a top gi player, passing was phenomenal. Congrats dude 🔥🔥

Such a solid/approachable dude. And a true student of whatever he takes on. Dude is going against big competitors in BJJ , just like his fights in “one”. He’s a natural 125lber and handles himself so well in these upper weight classes. His accomplishments are extremely impressive. Hopefully he cleans house.
