Not really. They want people who seem stable, who have MONEY to spend on them and who have status so the church can benefit from it. The fact that they can't get that anymore is another story. Demi is a severely confused woman with brain damage from overdosing. She's probably all they can get, but not what they wanna have.

I think one thing people often forget about Demi is that they have literal brain damage. I'm not saying this as a fan whatsoever. I'm not saying this as an excuse. I'm saying this as it's genuinely upsetting to see so many people make jokes that Demi has gone crazy and has damage. Overdosing itself will give you brain damage. Demi was technically dead for minutes. In the hospital trying to recover, they had 3 strokes and a heartattack. And that's just the overdosing incident. Demi also started doing drugs as a child. Their brain never developed how it should've. They also dealt with a lot of trauma that can change the brain like abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and r*pe. Like I genuinely believe Demi is not mentally well and needs to leave stardom. Being a celebrity is doing nothing but hurting them. They're not even profiting monetarily that much, and the profit they are making are from people laughing at them.

Definitely agree with this (and the bit between you and Ari). Do I think Demi has done stupid stuff that should be criticized? Yes. But you are absolutely right that no one talks about how they have actual brain damage. It feels like they have enablers close to them that really aren’t helping them, and I definitely agree that what is probably best for them is to get off the internet, get rid of enablers, and quit being a celebrity so that they can actually heal themselves. Just feels like a continuing path of destruction (not that that is completely Demi’s fault).

yeah the thing is brain damage and the worse end of mental health symptoms may not be an *excuse to act a way people dont like. but its a *reason. as a society we're supposed to be destigmatizing mental health so it can be understood and treated, but its still only okay to be a high masking Brave Sufferer. but god forbid someone neuroatypical or bipolor knock over a trash can or cry on their kitchen floor. there's No Excuse for that. they should be battered with criticism and judgement then lose their platform. maybe just start putting people Away again.

i'm a really strong believer in ghosts, and this exact thing is why i only fuck with buzzfeed unsolved. the dynamic between skeptic and believer makes the show SO much more believable bc you've got ryan being like "this is the evidence" and shane being like "that's the wind you stupid fuck." you can also tell that the evidence they present - whether or not you believe in it - was genuine and not forced bc theyve got entire episodes where basically nothing happens - and they're still interesting to watch! bc the hosts are actually entertaining! anyways i wish more ghost shows would adapt that kind of format also weird side note demi looks SO MUCH like one of my siblings. it's unreal

I need Nick to come give me a full glam makeover while I’m still unconscious in the recovery room after my next maxillofacial surgery, so I wake up looking photo-shoot ready head-to-toe (aside from the swelling and drain coming our of my neck)! My very first words upon regaining consciousness after my previous surgery were “Did it work?” This time it could be just breaking into song. “YOU BETTER WORK! COVERGIRL!” That would sure help me get through having to repeat the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life. Looking amazing always helps, even if it’s just a little. 💋

I'm a bit torn on some things about Demi; partnering with Scooter Braun, the whole yogurt shop... thing... but I am so grateful for them talking about their addictions, sobriety, mental health. The Dancing with the Devil series and song they did really was breathtaking and well done. I hope they are doing well and taking care of themselves, however that looks! Excited to hear Nick's opinions :)

Dancing with the devil promoted the idea that you can still drink and do some drugs in moderation as an addict, which isn't particularly responsible. Elton John had a cameo and explicitly talked about how he thought that was a terrible idea and wouldn't work *Edit: so yes, I agree with you about being conflicted about Demi, though I lean mostly negative. The froyo thing was a disaster 🤦‍♀️

I kinda feel like when you look at Demi’s entire life story it is a real portrayal of the realities of mental illness and she doesn’t sugar coat it. It shows the super highs and the extreme lows of it. I don’t agree with everything they do and I honestly don’t even like them that much. I think that being a former Disney star many associate them with being a role model still (like a previous comment mentioned about drinking as an example) like you don’t see people insinuating that you should take advice from other celebrities (many being men but that’s another conversation)

Demi also has a really uncomfortable history of putting women down for „not doing enough“, eg Taylor Swift donating 25.000 dollars for Kesha‘s trial against Dr. Luke. Demi publicly attacked her for „not speaking out“ when Taylor actually had an ongoing sexual assault case she was dealing with herself. And Demi did rant on Twitter for days, but donated nothing. Also advocating for things to the detriment of women - eg when Zendaya received a Barbie doll in her honor and Demi criticized it because she thought a curvy doll was „more important“. Also sexually assaulting their bodyguard under the guise of a „prank“…and there’s more. So Demi is…not great.

Demis music got me through so many hard times for years and the scene of their overdose is from their music video “Dancing With The Devil”, beautiful song and video. In saying all that, I haven’t been able to keep up with them since I feel like they’ve become an “influencer” in a way. Hanging out with Tana Mongue and Nikita Dragun just bothers me 🙄
