Dear Santa. Please make it so a startup, investor, inventor or what have you reboots the production of 35mm instant film.
Its just so fun. And the processing machine is literally idiot proof. Easiest thing ever.
And Santa, if its not to much trouble, I heard there was a version for motion picture as well… Thanks.
The film is old as shit. So don't expect crystal clear results. This is for fun and proof of concept. (and I saw the misspelling but... you know...)
The gear used:
Lumix 20mm f1.7,

It seems like all the cool stuff that I like was discontinued before I even learned of them. Like, I would love it if someone would bring this format back. I can't put into words how cool and interesting I find this.

Bo Dez To make something like that now will cost mega bucks. Who's gonna buy film at maybe $30+ a roll. Damn, I mean 20 rolls of this now days, and you've got a banging dslr and kit lens. I know film is beautiful, but when it gets that expensive, it's just not practical or even affordable.

This is pretty darn cool. It's weird how this was phased out yet there are those who still support and shoot with 35mm slide film. I would take this any day over an hour of having to mix and use nasty chemicals.

I still have some polapan and polachrome left in my fridge. Still shoot a roll for fun sometimes. I actually really like the tones of polapan. I also find it alot easier to break open the canister after developing because even spooling it out scratches it!
@ShikLam666
@ShikLam666 Год назад
Yes there was the risk of scratching the slide when it was still a bit wet. I didn’t remember if I opened up the canister or not, but for sure I was very careful and slow when pulling it out before mounting. I didn’t use the cheap plastic mounts from Polaroid, instead I used glass mounts from West Germany, you heard it right West Germany! One thing about Polapan, I loved using it for still portrait, it gave you the feel of Italian style and very artistic which Kodak Plus X Pan or Verichrome Pan could not produce. Polaroid, was ahead of its time, but success made people became a slacker, I supposed that’s what happened to Polaroid.

Cool. Never knew this existed. I wonder if it was only available in some markets. I remember growing up in the 90s there was so much that was only available in the US and not sold anywhere else. Sometimes I thought it was deliberate to increase cross border shopping by Canadians like me. :) Anyway this is a very cool product and gets around some of the problems with getting slide film developed now.

FYI Polaroid was selling this processor here in Canada for sure, cause I used to sell it in Toronto back in the 80’s. The reason you didn’t hear about it was it never caught on with the public. Hardly anyone noticed it’s existence, that’s including the pro. I had a tough time introducing it to people about the potential usefulness of instant slides. I guessed slides were pretty much dead by the late 80’s and nobody wanted anything to do with slides.

@alexmuller1680
@alexmuller1680 5 лет назад
This is not E-6 process! Its Polaroid system. Above the colour layers there is a layer of crystals. When you roll it in, the roller will crush them and the chemical reaction will start. But as on classic Polaroid camera you need to clean the rollers often to avoid the scratches.

the look of the film has nothing to do with the camera, polachrome was a very blue and grainy type of slide film. It was a neat idea, but the product was def an acquired taste. They brought an early version of it to a summer photo camp I was at in the 1980's, I still have a couple slides around somewhere from it. They developed and fixed correctly because they still look the same, blue and grain lol. I would probably go for a spindle, developing cup, enlarger, trays, red light and timer, paper, and tmax 400 any day, even with the added skills needed :P
@gearreallydoesntmatter
@gearreallydoesntmatter 7 лет назад
+icestormdelta14 are you sure you didn't screw up and bought the blue version? It was meant for blue prints. This is the chrome version which is very magenta.
@icestormdelta14
@icestormdelta14 7 лет назад
it could have been, it was 1985, and a polaroid representative brought enough in for a roll or two for every student, I just remember that it was very stylized, and needed a lot of light to get reasonable slides.
