Never before seen film of the long gone Stockton Tower from our 3 hour DVD "Freight West"
Do you miss Santa Fe, SP, WP and the old version of the UP? This presentation brings it back with beautiful scenery, old smoking diesel power and colorful, graffiti-free freight cars in the 1970's and 80's! We make the case for watching freight car traffic-patterns and loads to better understand how railroads worked before all the mergers of the 1990's. Watching these trains makes us realize all of the things we took for granted, and we appreciate these freight car views much more and it makes us want to see and in the case of modelers, run the trains of yesteryear! These valuable historical views help us to create trains with our memories into a credible mix of cars from favorite home roads and the "Pooled" and "exotic" cars from other railroads!

It's more interesting before the mergers eliminated so many of the smaller railroads. Thanks for bringing the smaller lines back to life in films.

Nice one to add to my list of videos for my uncle for the holidays. He is a retired railroader for the Santa Fe.

I love the no-graffitti diesel era of the 70's & 80's. RR owned/branded rolling stock were more prevalent then as were box cars in general.

"Uncle Pete" sure did gobble up a lot of the classic railroads, for sure. I miss the SP and the old Santa Fe.

Lol you mentioned lack of security for the open boxcars but it is still pretty common to see open boxcars at least on UP

I remember as a kid back in '88 a friend and myself would go around that tower in search of blue belly lizards... Fun times as a kid

At around 19-20 mins, you repeated a line of narration. Otherwise, great stuff!
