The blue flames was actually a very clean burn a well prepared engine and alcohol if rules permit runs cooler temperature on pistons but is alkaline based which requires a little more maintenance but in the long run is worth it just my opinion thank you
@@gregoryclemen1870 British thermal units alcohol is less likely to burn a piston and puts out more horsepower than refined petroleum fuel as I stated it takes a little more maintenance being a alkaline based product and with that it comes with a corrosive component and dosen't break down oil or valve seats as much as the hotter petroleum based fuels sprint car teams and indy car teams apparently know what they're doing but to each his own and go with what you know
@@gregoryclemen1870 you won't get a argument out of me when it comes to the facts of invisible flames and can be a safety issue but if you take two cars competing on the same track and under the same conditions the petroleum based car will have the headers glowing a bright orange all the way up to the heads and beyond that high temperature is what most teams are trying to avoid sure you might have to pump a little more grain alcohol into it but the cooler temperatures are a plus
you are correct when it comes" to each his own", when it comes to alcohol, it is a wonderful cleaner, and does a great job of "STRIPPING OIL " off of surfaces that need oil!!!. it will dilute oil from just the blowby gasses in the engine( unburned fuel). I have rebuilt engines that were run on alcohol, and piston rings were worn out, valve guides were worn out. in terms of fuel efficiency, regular grade gasoline has 10 to 15 % alcohol in it, the gas millage in my daily drivers sucked( 30% drop in fuel millage). when I shifted over to premium grade gasoline the gas millage shot way up, due to the fact that there is no alcohol in premium grade gasoline!!!!.. so there is less power output with an engine running on alcohol.!!!. I have never seen an engine running on gasoline burn holes in pistons, unless the ignition timing is severely retarded. the only time I have seen holes/ burned pistons is on engines that are running on "NITROUS- OXIDE" (top fuel dragsters). those guys rebuild their engines after every run!!!. as far as sprint car/ indy cars are concerned, those engines are set up for the fuel that they are using, and have the maintenance/ oil changes performed on a regular basis. a lot of your derby drivers do not maintain the drivetrain(s) that they have in their posesion ( oil change--- what is that????) so with me, when it comes to alcohol, I stay away from the stuff!!!
@@shaneschartel1593 for me its not about winning idc if i put 20k into a car im there to have fun not to win and if i win then i win cool but your almost always gonna be putting more into the car then your gonna be winning so thats why i just go out there to have fun
they do it because their brains are in their ass. it is not about horse power that wins a race, it is more about driver skill. I won many races on "STOCK DRIVETRAINS" and had no problems!!!!. no overheated engines/transmissions. I would make a hit then get away, with no pushing. I did not do anything that was "STUPID", when you loose your head , your ass goes with it!!!!!.. my goal was to win the race, not "KILL THE CAR"!!!!
