It's really refreshing between all these excellent Gyllenhaal performances lately, AND this excellent director's great work. Dallas Buyers Club and Wild had that raw realism to it, and felt original and meaningful to watch. It's nice to see because I am SO EXHAUSTED from all these BIG-BUDGET CGI fests we've been getting so commonly.

I thought this looked really generic, like some Nicholas Sparks movie or something with the kind of screenplay a film student would write(look it's starting in medias res). But i find it so interesting that he doesn't really care much for his wife. When he said "I'm trying to miss her" i was hooked.

I'm really glad this trailer didn't give anything away. Like how the film is about how Jake's character tries to find closure on his wife's sudden death by reflecting on his marriage and his role in it (whether he was a good husband or not), talking with his father-in-law, and investigating and demolishing his house. And how when Jake inevitably has a falling out with everyone, including himself, he'll discover something important about himself with himself and his father-in-law, a conversation that will bridge the ancient gap between them. And how at the end of the film, Jake's character's introspective journey and his relationship with his anonymous female friend will end with a full-out bulldozing of his house. When I go see this film, I can't wait to be thrilled and entertained, but mostly, I can't wait to be surprised.

Lucas Emanoel Tbh I don't agree. I found it extremely interesting because I was fascinated by how accurately he played the role. I was constantly wondering if someone who helped direct this film or Jake himself has death with this
