When Zastava AKs are being imported a lot of parts are changed due to USA regulations. After Zastava got independent on USA market they are able to import more alike military M70 which we have in Ex-Yugoslavia republics. The last M70 they've imported is ZPAP, but it also differs from the original one.

That looks like an early Zastava. They were imported as single stack rifles. The bolt is made for single stack mag. If you Google ZASTAVA SINGLE STACK BOLT you'll see the difference. It came in as single stack due to US laws. Century then opens up the magwell to accept a double stack mag. People were having issues with this. You either got a lemon or a cherry. Later on Zastava started using standard bolt (double stack) and rifles worked fine. It's also possible your mag catch was installed too low. Or the rails were just a tad too high but if it has issues feeding off of the one side then it's most likely the single stack bolt. Just remember that Zastava is making a commercial product to the price point of their clients (century). Most likely it saved Century a few cents to have a single stack bolt. Once problems arose they changed to the standard double stack. Hope that helps

I had that issue with my sks. I had to completely take it apart and clean it. There was a bunch of cosmoline in the gas tube and piston area. Fires wonderful now

Yeah they have to modify and Dremel those mag wells out so they can accept double stack magazines. I've seen this a lot with a lot of the budget AKs. Sometimes it can be fixed by replacing the magazine release lever. However it's not as easy as replacing the magazine release on an AR. Often times you need specially designed equipment to do so. I'm not just talking punches and armors hammers. I'm talking heavy duty multi-ton rivet presses.

The Serbian Zastava M70 PAP (gen 1. You can tell by the lack of grenade sight, the sights itself, lack of side rail, and the railed receiver cover) were imported with a single stack bolt and magwell and someone attempted to convert it to accept normal double stack AK magazines. That is the reason you are having the problems. Swap the bolt and maybe modify/replace your mag catch and you should have been golden. A lot of AKs during 94-04 were imported as single stack rifles because of the clinton ban. Century Arms did a crappy job converting a lot of the imported AKs a decade ago.

I bought an Zastava NPAP a few months ago. I didn't notice it at the store but magazines didn't properly fit. It seems that Century Arms(the importer) didn't properly cut the inside of the receiver to accommodate double stacked magazines. 5 minutes with a dremel and poof works flawlessly now.

The entire point of the video is the same as most of this type; discredit the platform entirely. When you take that into consideration nobody should be surprised that they went with the dremel option. Just like many of the Hi-Point "reviews" on youtube, one could wonder if they'd be willing to put one of their revered "acceptable" weapons through the exact same abuse. In terms of the Hi-Points, I don't see anybody putting a $2000 S&W semi through that kind of hell, and I don't see anybody tossing $4000 worth of AR parts off a cliff either.

The whole problem with this AK is that it was imported with a single stack bolt and magwell. The magwell was opened up to use standard double stack mags (as most imports are), but it still has a narrow single stack bolt which causes feeding issues. They changed and started using double stack bolts for these shortly after initial imports. Rob's just not an AK guy and didn't really understand what he had. Saying that "most of them were returned" at the gun store he was at sounds like quite the exaggeration.
