Yeah. At the end of that third episode when they suddenly went "Ok. Dean's cured", I was near-certain that this had to be Demon Dean faking it somehow. But it all would've been ok if they'd actually established that Demon Dean is a lot more horrible than normal Dean with the Mark - because mostly it seemed like he was just drinking and singing bad karaoke. Which meant the whole rest of the season, where they were talking about how much worse it'd be if he gets turned into a Demon again, and I was going "but he didn't really even do anything".

I thought it was only angels that could see a demon's true form? I've been binging and I'm only up to season 9 tho so I might not have heard about it yet. All I've heard about is angels being able to see demons true forms, because angels don't really have physical features they're just 'multidimensional wavelengths of celestial intent'

Madison St. Claire Castiel did say to Sam and Dean's grandfather his true form is approximately the size of a Chrysler Building.

I know you asked this some years ago, so not sure if you’re interested in the answer now. Dean wasn’t possessed by a demon. He was the demon himself. Like Fergus possessed “a British literary agent out of NY” and re-named himself Crowley. So the anti-possession tattoo would have no effect. I don’t know if Deanmon could’ve smoked out of Dean.
