Hi, I am thinking about installing the larger, VICS-equipped Euro-spec ZM intake on my non-VICS ZL engine. Can I reprogram the stock ECU to actuate the VICS?

So this is the next best thing if you don't want to hash out 500 for a EUDM/JDM square top? What if someone has removed the butterflies? is it just rubbish now? I ask because I plan to buy a 2000 intake but the original owner removed the butterflies because he was turboed, IIRC. I'm not turboed yet but will be soon enough, I'm buying his head and intake because mine has a plethora of issues including burnt valves. *If I run that intake without the butterflies N/A, will it noticeably hurt low-end performance?*
I don't know. I would assume that it would run a little worse at low RPM. I'm running the Skunk2 Manifold now. I like it better than the square top but only marginally better.

@@kysephia aye. Gotcha. And I'd imagine it's likely hard to find those butterflies from the factory? Seems when people remove these things, they suddenly can't remember where they put them.
I'm installing a flat top in my NB Miata and your video is very helpful. Can you what some of the changes I will need to make? I see the VICS in the front and I see something in the back next to the EGR Valve that I'm not sure what I need to do with. Appreciate your help.
With a aftermarket computer that has self tuning nothing has to really be done. A retune would be optimal. On a factory computer it will work just fine but you will get a CEL. I don't remember how to stop that as it has been years since I used a factory computer.
@@kysephia Thank you for the reply. I ended up installing my square top into my 99 NB1. I kept the VIC valve plugged in, but just capped the vacuum ports. So far 500 miles and 2 track days and no CEL.
