That is hysterically funny. Even my vet has trouble giving my dog a tablet. If my dog sat there like the one in the video, I wouldn't even be looking at videos on how to do it.

omg you would not believe how much of a fight it has become for me and my dog. I am in tears right now. He has 6 pills he has to take daily. One is so big it has to be cut in 1/4. U make it look so easy.

This is awesome! Very informative. This guy is really sharp! I may try this pill technique on my great grandmother since she is often reluctant to take her meds and I don't have a dog.

Did what you said. It worked great. Has been a real pain. Dog spits out anything disguised with a treat of any sort. Was a chihuahua by the way, but a small pill. Stuck it in the back of her mouth past where her tongue is raised up. Covering her eyes and stroking her throat gave me an advantage. She could not see the pill coming and did not resist. Stroking the throat stimulated a swallow reflex (I guess). Worked like a charm. No life and death battle this time!

I just got my dog yesterday from the animal shelter and he needed to take Trazodone for anxiety. They gave me cat food and told to make 3 ball and give 1 with nothing the 2nd with the pill and the 3rd as a treat. That didn't work then i tried Hot Dogs and that didn't work so i turned on RU-vid and I took your advice and put nee around him and put my hand over his eye and opened his jaws and put the pill in the back of his throat and worked. Thank you very much !

Seriously Your dobie is so well trained and obedient. How beautifully she is sitting next to you and taking the medication. I have a 6 month old doberman If i try to sit next to him for his medication he gonna bite me and tear me into pieces. It's always so difficult to give him deworming syrup,he always throws half of the medicine. 😪😪😪😪

Will try this when I get home. thanks!! My oldie is so stubborn and she needs her pills so bad right now. Pain and chronic UTI. She's slow on eating and trying to hide cephalexin is a nightmare. can't wait to try this though. Extra note: many pills come in chewable form. Found that out for mine's carprophen. and it actually cost less for the same dosage of meds. as finicky as she can be sometimes she often will take that chewable and not take any other edibles.

If only it's that easy. Even my vet has trouble pilling my dog, so it's pretty hopeless for an ordinary person like me.

...My JRT is very afraid so NOW I'm afraid to touch his mouth, at the beggining of the process was ok, but now HE BITES‼️😳😱And now he knows that we are afraid of his teeth.😔Today he has a stomach issue, I have the pill, but cannot do it like before because he already bite me several times.😩He's suffering and I'm suffering.

My dog was attacked yesterday by my neighbors pitbull. He was bitten several times around his neck and is not eating or drinking. I called the vet to find out how I can give him his meds and was told to force it down his throat. It's hard holding his head up because of his neck. Please help anyone as my dog is in a lot of pain. 😭

All these dogs in these sorts of videos open their mouth so easily. My dog's not aggressive at all but she's very good at not opening her mouth. In the beginning I could trick her with food, now she knows exactly when the medicine is in the vicinity. So the only way I got her to actually open the mouth was by inserting some food through the side, where her teeth don't completely shut down. That forced her to chew. Then I quickly insert a hard rubber toy inside her mouth and that gives me enough time to send the pill down the throat. Most days it goes ok. Somedays she can still bring the pill back and starts chewing it out the sides of her mouth, then it just gets messy because it's one of those sort of plasticky pills full of little orbs inside it. The worst part is, I've had enough dogs in my life and whenever they reach a certain age, all these vet bills and medicine barely put a dent. Still you care for them so you get suckered into believing it'll help more than it really does. This is my last dog. I'll care for her until she dies and then I'm through with this cycle of suffering for a dog ever 10-15 years.

Take a small piece of slice bread,wrap pill with the piece of bread cover with a litter bit of peanut butter..dogs love the smell of peanut butter And the taste.I try it on my dog and it work.

if only it were that easy. My shih tzu will not accept it that easy. Even with 4 hands on deck, one arm and hand holding him around his back into his belly, one hand on his chest, one hand holding the top of his head like here and one hand using a pill gun. He fights like crazy still flinging his head everywhere then once we finally get it in all the way back even we close his mouth hold it shut and stroke his throat for a good 30 seconds then we let go and he spits it out.

I use these Greenies Pill Pockets you can find it at literally any pet store or even at the vet. He loves the Hickory Smoke flavor.

I have a doberman too and it's not that easy as it looks in this video with my dog. The bugger would just not.open his mouth.. I am having to powder the pill and mix it in water and use a syringe to force it in. And even then some of it just flows outwards from the side of his mouth.. damn! It's a nightmare whenever he gets sick.

Try that with my Scottie Mr Vet, and you'll be working with one hand afterwards. I tried your suggestion, no luck and I now have only one hand.

My cat is diabetic, has been for two years, and we feed him raw meat patties we get from petco. We no longer have to give him insulin injections because we cut the carbohydrates from his diet. I had to give him a shot two times a day in between the shoulder blades before that though. Took me awhile to get over the fear of it... but the needles are so thin it didn't hurt him too much.DO a little research and look into a raw food diet! It's cheaper and he's never been at a more stable weight!

He barely opens his mouth and even when he does he bit me and he is weak and only drinks a little water help

anyone notice how he use dog' lip to cover dog's teeth when open dog's mouth, did not put his bare hand in between dog's teeth. most video didnt do this and instead put their finger inside dog's mouth. that can be dangerous especially with small dog that they can bite you when they closed their mouth. using dog's lip to cover their teeth before open their mouth like this one make it easier to open dog's mouth as normally any animal wouldnt bite thier own lip so they will open their mouth and this also prevent some dog to closed its mouth and bite your finger

Here’s the bigger question- why aren’t meds liquid so you can syringe them? Sheer stupidity on the part of manufacturers

We've tried every trick in the book, but none have worked. Today we used a pill pusher and what happened? Nothing cuz she spit the pill out after a few seconds. This video didn't help us one bit. We're disappointed ☹️

Ha. My 20 lb rescue terrier/doxie/schnauzer mix. She goes insane when I give her a pill..or try to. She bit me, drew blood, bruised my thumb, scratched me and spit out the pill. Then I wedged her into a sofa corner, put a pillow over all for paws. No dice. I got a pill shooter. Nope. And finally I wore a gardening glove and let her bite me while I poked it down. I’m still finding metronidazole pills she gagged up. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All these pill demonstrations are done with big dogs, I haven’t seen a single one with a small breed, and that’s because it’s very hard with a small breed but super easy with a big dog. Thanks for nothing.
