I mind the banning of ALL of our greatest American literature from our children, yet you did it. The church should worry about the years of pain inflicted upon victims they sexually abused instead of selling books! As a mother in Ohio, I want them pulled! The material is shocking, inappropriate for my daughter and demeaning! One parent rule, the end!

More like fan-fic. It's about as historical as spiderman or harry-potter. They each mention real places like New York, Paris, London... but after that, they are replete with fantasy.

The Bible is filled with stories that exist in other literature from the time. Christians in the US are just too closed minded to realize that their faith resides in a relatively young religion with respect to others in the world.

But there is such a thing as Egypt, of course, and the text even mentioned Ramesses by name, and, later, King Cyrus. And Jericho was a real place, with a very well known wall. But that wall didn't come down back then. And so on. The ancient Jews seemed to enjoy just what you (PhrontDoor) describe. And Spider-Man is a great example. It takes place in New York, a real place. Sometimes the stories have real people in it, and will refer to real landmarks. What's weird is the Bible makes it sound like it's history. They follow a family line through Genesis, and talk very blandly about dividing Palestine after conquering most of it. But the Hebrews were always in Palestine. They didn't arrive there from Egypt. And so on.

It is history for it shaped language and even motivated the expansion west from Europe and the expansion beyond that.

The Bible was what got the African slaves through their difficult times unjustly working in the fields. The Bible is what created the genre of shape music that turned into him, singing that has turned into other forms of art. I could list many more ways of the Bible has impacted in influenced humanity. Do you want me to keep going? Because it honestly doesn’t matter whether or not you see the gospels as history or not.

That's the thing I live here in Utah and the people that you see here are Mormons. Their religion is not allowed to be taught in our schools in fact I don't think a lot of people know that Bibles and religion are not taught in our Utah schools. The Mormon called has little buildings that are completely tax-exempt in the cities that they decide to set up shopping called seminaries where they indoctrinate children and parents can choose to send their kids there for part of their school day they're literally across the street from high schools for this very purpose so... We don't need the Mormon cult being taught in schools we don't need the Bible being taught in schools that's for parents to choose
