Hi Kayleigh, I am employed as a Social Care Assistant for the local authority and I used your videos to prepare me for the Social Work Degree Apprenticeship interview. I got the role and will start studying in October. Your videos really helped me, so thank you.

Yes very helpful, thank you! I fled DV via a refuge, went through a 3 year custody battle which resulted in no direct contact to keep little one & me safe. Would mentioning this at interview harm my application? Especially as a lone parent? Should I only give aspects of what I've experienced - sadly there are still some who thought we should manage the risk & thought no contact is cruel, but for our lives it was THE absolute last resort. It's heartbreaking as I would love nothing more than for it to be safe. It was the one Social Worker who saw the truth that gave me courage to fight & inspired me to help others going through it. My mum died too young, grew up with horrendous violence & deprivation. If she had this support that I had, she may still be alive today. I know I can make a difference, but how much do I share given people's biases/judgements? Sorry to ask such direct q's - there's no pressure to answer - even thinking out loud is cathartic 😂🥰 super channel TY!

@@FaithfulandTrue949 Hi firstly, thanks for reaching out and for your positive feedback on the channel. It's much appreciated. I would defiantly share that if you feel comfortable doing so. It will absolutely show your motivation for wanting to be a social worker and how much of a positive impact you could have. You would be brilliant and I'm glad to hear you had a good social worker. They will like to hear this. Think about how your experiences prepare you for the field and what you think you can bring. 😊 I wish you every success. 🥰

Hi Kayleigh, I am interested in applying for the government’s step up to social care programme, but I’m unsure whether this qualifies you to work in any area of social work (such as mental health social work) or just children’s social care? Thank you 😊

Hi I just had a look into it as I'm not 100 percent sure but it seems like you come out with a social work qualification at the end so you must be able to work in any area once registered with Social Work England. But it's worth enquiring about that :).
