I cover all high end makers, specially in shell cordovan on ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kr2ijgOtBd8.html. Take a look and let me know which details you think are most important 👌🏼
Yeah, for sure. I think the website is sufficient for what it’s needed for. I think once you want to really custom an MTO with a lot of detail requests, the email is the best route
His shoes have to the absolute best , I have felt that way for years, Italian design, subtle flair but respecting all traditional aspects, he surpasses the so called other "best" brands, The likes of John Lobb. I also like Paolo Scafora but Antonio is not only a passionate master shoe craftsman creating super high end masterpieces, he's also a super nice personable person - You just cannot beat that :)
AM is my favorite also, own 1 pair and another on the way. Second favorite, almost on pair with the maestro is Yohei Fukuda, these two gentlemen make shoes I'd rather marvel at in a museum than wear lol, simply master pieces from masters of their craft.
Antonio is one of my favorite shoemaker. Considering your collection of his shoes if you can share your antonio shoe collection and how it ages (most importantly) then it will be a useful guide for people like me
Here’s my full collection of shoes ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dQaOwpsMZRA.html It’s probably difficult to show or add any value in the realm of how shoes age because everyone is going to have a variation depending on the wear and how they care for them. Any maker that uses reputable materials and construction techniques is going to age well. I get it’s probably not that satisfying of an answer, but it’s more often than not the case.
I really enjoyed this and learned a ton. Thank you, David. I'll definitely be checking out Antonio's work. The Aurum MTM, something in peccary, sounds like it would be absolutely killer.
So this year I’ve been getting into higher end shoes much to the Mrs.’ dismay. My emails to Meccariellos customer service would not go through and I ended up contacting them through Instagram. After some back and forth they suggested a size and I put an order for my first pair of hand welted Argentum MTO. Excited to see how they turn out. The one issue IMO is the site is not all too user friendly but that’s not why we seek those small workshops as ultimately it’s the final product that counts. I’ll be very keen to learn about your Aurum experience and comparison to Argentum including the process and comfort and of course price.
Yeah this is a great comment! Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately this is common, but I completely agree, if you can take the perspective as you have that it’s the nature of the small shoemaker and roll with the punches it’ll produce great results. And once you have those lines of communication open, it’s much easier moving forward. I will definitely work on some more content as you described. Hopefully will have some pairs soon to take the process full circle 🙌🏻
Thanks! I figured to leave the prices out since they can vary depending on the details and seemed it’d be more likely to confuse then clarify. But Argentum rtw starts in the €550ish range a little less for machine welt and more for handwelt, Argentum mto starts around €850 (give or take depending on the model) and Aurum starts around the upper €1850ish range if I recall correctly. But anything not on the webshop, I’d refer anyone to email for price inquiries because the customization is endless and therefore the prices can change quite a bit depending what one chooses. Hope this helps!
I have a comment but it's out of your control. I have seen the Website he has and it just seemed a bit challenging to get around it from the different models available, the types of leather and the choices for colors/patina.
Yeah, I wouldn’t disagree. There’s definitely a bit of a learning curve with navigating the webshop. Personally, over the last few years my perspective has grown a bit on the topic. Not just Meccariello shoes, but many shoemakers that are small enough that they don’t have dedicated customer service or digital marketing departments, it’s quite the lift to create, manage and maintain a website. So I’ve recognized that if I really want the maker, usually it’s because their skill and craftsmanship is that good, then I’m not as worried about the website and I’ll just deal with them directly in email or private message. But of course, your point is 100% accurate. If you’re interested, shoot him an email And it’ll be a little more of a personalized experience, he’ll send you a link to the invoice in the webshop when you’ve completed the order.
Just rewatched this video! A couple of questions: *About how many pair of Meccariello shoes do you own? This doesn’t have to include works in progress but certainly could. *I would really appreciate an overview video of your Meccariello shoes - Is this something you would consider. Doesn’t have to be in-depth for every pair but it would be great to see the range of AM shoes you own. Thanks again and cheers! Steve
