I’ve being waiting for your video regarding the new Denali D7 for more than a month. I truly enjoy your videos Brother. I’ve installed the Denali D7 on my new R1250GS Adventure HP, and I love them. I will be buying all my accessories from you in the future, because you are more reliable than the big companies. I need your advice: 1- How much torque (in NM) should I apply to the bolts that hold the Denali Light mount in the R1250GSbAdventure?, I think did applied too much torque and I’m afraid it will damage the bike. 2- The D7’s are 10 amps each or 10 amps combined? Thanks in advance Brother.

Ricardo Moran thank you for your kind words. Nice to wake up to this morning. 🙂. I don’t torque in those bolts. Don’t worry, the nuts are nylon threaded and the bolts are very strong. Yes 10 amps for the pair, however to get your true amp draw measurement, connect your cansmart controller to USB port and run diagnostics. You can watch it live and monitor the peak draw when you engage full beam. You can also adjust the fuse value on circuit 1.

Mate, is there a chance you could make another more detailed and fair comparison video between D7s and D4s, at night. With percentages to not blind other drivers, all auxiliary lights pointhing as the manual asks (2in lower at 25ft). Maybe both pairs with same type of lenses, and then maybe change to the other type of lenses. Also, if you could only have one pair installed, which one would be? And why? Are the D7s a total overkill for public roads at night?are the D4s enough for riding at highway speeds, or how fast would you feel confortable riding with D4s vs D7s?

Very useful comparison, thank you. I currently have the D4s and would like to upgrade to the D7s. Is this a straight plug'n'play switch? i.e. can I use the existing wiring harness that I installed with the D4s? I would rather not have to replace the harness. Not difficult, just time consuming.

Which setup would you recommend for lighting up twisty mountain road? I understand the D4 has a wider near field (with the flood lenses) and the D7 is more for the far field.

Hi i thought I replied to this so apologies for the month delay. Your question would have been accurate if you had said DR1 instead of D7. The fact of the matter is the D7 does it all. Very wide, the widest Denali do and very long, the longest Denali do. D7 for twisties all the way, however I’ve been using D4’s for a year on twisty roads at night time. Both excellent choices but the D7 is the flagship for sure

You'll never get the true pictures when you see the film on a tv screen or computer, in contrast to what you experience on the bike, i'm into install D4 or D7 but the D7 is SO expensive here in sweden almost 850eur and D4 cost's 480eur

Agree with others over the comparison not being very fair. You keep saying "That's the D4 at [whatever percent]" and then you throw the D7s at 100%. Not a fair comparison.

i saw your other video saying that D4 would need to be 60% at Full Beam in order not to trip the circuit. Are you now running both D4 and D7 100% on Full Beam? Reason i ask is, i have a pair of D4 and i will most certainly get my hands on the D7 so i want to know if i can run them both at 100% on full beam without causing any issue on the CanSmart or circuits. Example, D7 0% day and night, and D4 10% day and 40% night, BUT both on 100% for full beam. would that work?

yuri sousa ah ha! Good question which I knew someone would ask. Busted! This video has both sets of lights on circuit 1 with a kill switch on the D7’s which I haven’t showed. I’ve set this up especially for the video as neither of these lights can exist on circuit 2 at 100%. So you are correct, I run my D4s on circuit 2 at 10% for run and 50% on full beam whilst my D7’s live on circuit 1 at 100% for full beam only. The fuse on circuit 1 is adjustable up to 25amps. Plenty of room for both sets of lights. Circuit 2 is limited to 4amps. I have heard rumour of a new cansmart controller coming to market almost imminently where circuit 2 will have more head room. Ssh! You didn’t hear it here.

Have you experienced flickering on the D7’s when they are ser at 20%? Or one of the pods turn off at 10%? What could I be doing wrong? My first line is set to 20 amps Thanks for you advice

A BIKE THING I did changed the harness, the CanSmart and the D7’s, and same thing. A friend of mine that works at the BMW dealer told me that it might be the battery, since is a brand new bike that I almost haven’t used because I was modifying many things got discharged, I’ll change the battery. Also it can be Thant I’ve used a Denali extension to reach one of the lights, I’ll try eliminating that extension. I’m eager to see your install video on the R1250GSA

Kuki Barbuceanu - Bibilix it’s exactly my problem, one of the lights flickers only at low setting (10~20%), once it goes higher the flickering stops. The new Generation 2 of the CanSmart might fix the issue with the D7’s. We are not alone 😬😬
