In today's video I am going to show you how I got my Nobile hybrids to get into bud in my environment. I will also tell you a little bit about the species in the outside world. I am not an expert so I am only sharing some tips I learned along the way. I hope you enjoy it :)
I have mostly tropical plants and hybrids that thrive in my home environment in London, UK. Grab a cup of coffee, tea or any favourite drink of yours and let's get this video started!

I enjoyed this video. I enjoyed the personal aspect of the story and learning how they grow in the mountains of Brazil. I would like to see that when COVID is over. This was helpful. I live in Northeast US. I purchased one like your white from the grocery store with no blooms. I put in the coolest part of the house near a window. I always segregate new plants in this spot. The next day was supposed to be fairly warm 70 degrees, so I raised a window slightly and forgot about them. It turned out to be a misty, drizzly, almost cool day mid 60’s. By the time I remembered to close the window, late afternoon, 5 or 6 hours had passed. It was in full bloom. It’s been two week. I am noticing the water needs,so thanks for the fertilizer tip. The only additional care item I would have like to hear is how long the blooms last. Lovely video.

Thanks for watching it :) I am so glad to hear yours are in bloom, and that you managed to induce it with the cooler temperature. The blooms last for about 1 month, sometimes one month and a half. Mine are all in vegetative growth at the moment. I hope your orchids are bringing you joy.

Hi Ina, do you have or could you please make a video on how to care for a nobile type keiki? I have just bought a couple and am looking for how to treat them while they are establishing (in UK)...best medium, light and temps at that stage and how to get them established so they will flower. The ones I have bought are acclimatised to UK. If not a video, any advice would be very welcome. Thank you.

Hi Julia, I don't have dendrobium nobile keikis with me at the moment. They grow very fast in the right conditions, since they are baby plants I wouldn't offer them any low temperatures this winter. Place them in a place with some bright light, water them when they have just dried out and start fertilising them little by little when you notice they have gotten used to your environment. I am sure they will be fully mature next summer, so you will be able to give them a winter rest for them to start spiking. Let me know if this is helpful :)

Love your videos, 'cause always something new to learn. How long is it going to take for a Den. kiki to grow into a matured cane with an end leaf? My Dens (nobly type) won't show end leaves all the way through winter time. Not sure there is any meaning to winterize them.

Thank you for your question and for watching the videos. It usually takes 6 to 9 months for a dendrobium to get fully mature but if you are still young wait for it to become mature before offering a cool down in temperature. I hope it helps.

Hello!💐 What temperature for Dendr. Berry Oda after growing season in autumn and winter? I can place my other Dendr. nob. Hybrids between my windwow glasses- its cool to cold there withour frost but i want my Berry Oda also gbringing to bloom again, she made 2 new plants and 3 or 4 very tiny ones and she stoped growing now because days are now short, less light. Best regards, Andrea🙏🍀

I usually offer the same cool down in temperature that I offer to my mobiles. It is placed in a room where the temperature goes down to 5 degrees during winter time but ranges around 10 degrees most of the time.

Hi how would you attach a cane to a tree to grow and how to look after it please?
@oneorchidaday
@oneorchidaday Год назад
Ideally, you should have at leat 3 canes and some roots. You grab the plant from the base e attach to the tree trunk with some sort of string. It needs to a strong one. You need to make sure the orchid will not fall and it is stable. It will grow new roots and they will naturally attach to the trunk

I have mine outside but they never bloomed after the first time I don’t overwater them I water once a month or so and then fertilize once a month No blooms What am I doing wrong?
@oneorchidaday
@oneorchidaday 9 месяцев назад
Hi Christina, do you have a cold winter where you live? These plants need a difference in temperature between the warmer months and cooler months. When it is warm you can fertilise them every week, but when the weather gets cooler you should stop fertilising. If they are offered high light, fertiliser and enough hydration they should bloom when the temperature drops. They may skip one year but should bloom for you in the next year. I hope it is helpful.
