To answer all the questions about her crying: she was an underdog before and even within the Beijing Olympic. She wanted to be better but had been having bottleneck at that time. Thats why she was crying in the documentary. Fortunately, she was selected for the six people team as the last person, and the team won gold at Beijing Olympic

Lucy Cao Well, actually, she was a five year old when she enrolled, but there're Olympic champions who started lots older than 6. She'll be turning 24 in four months and she's still amazing
This video shows the dedication that Olympians put in to get to where they are today. No matter how strong you are physically or mentally, at the very end the human side surfaces and most will break down when the ultimate pinnacle has been reached. Great job with the video!!!

I think Linlin Deng is one of the best women gymnast in history. A role model with a strong mind to win and win gold metals eventually in the two Olympic events. All the best to her future.
Great montage. Deng said in one interview that she is not a smart type of gymnast, she is somewhat slow, and she can only learn moves by keeping practicing. She is so real and admirable.

She is just heartbreakingly beautiful. All gymnasts at her level are creatures of unearthly grace, but she exposes her soul the way Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse did, through a very different art.

Deng Linlin is 28 years old now! I feel bad for her, apparently she made a lot of sacrifice for gymnastics and does not have a normal childhood and cried a lot!
@LuziBao Thanks :) And you're right, there's so much to admire about her! She might need more practice and repetition, but it pays off...she has never let her team down in Olympic or World competition.
@MelodiaTodoElDia That competition was the 2009 Chinese National Games AA. The National Games are a pretty big deal to athletes in China...they're only held once every four years. So proud of her...I'm sure it'll be something she'll remember forever :)
They've named Yao Jinnan, Sui Lu, Huang Qiushuang, and Deng Linlin to the Olympic team. The fifth spot is still open to either He Kexin, Jiang Yuyuan, or Tan Sixin. And yeah, Cheng Fei is out due to a torn achilles :(

Other Chinese gymnast may show more gift, but some of them have problem with consistence. Deng show maturity in competition.BTW I love the way the coach watching her crying on the side quietly.
@IWillRunAlways Thanks for watching :) Agreed, it's tough seeing her cry. But it's been great to see how much she's grown up since then...she's come a long way!
@LexBelgrade Thanks! :) Unfortunately she's had some injuries and hasn't been at her best this year. She struggled at Nationals and didn't make the Worlds team. I hope she can rebound for 2012! Go Linlin!
Chinese gymnasts are chosen at a very young age (2 or 3) to go to a training school to become elite gymnasts. They train 6 days a week for like 6 hours a day. They don't sign up and I would imagine that, as they grow older, they start to feel more pressure from parents and from their country to stick it out no matter if they like it or not. I'm not sure what the repercussions would be if they quit. I imagine some like the sport, but many probably just do it because they are expected to.

@cesaraddiction We don't know yet if she's gonna be in the Olympics. But I hope so...I admire her, too! They won't pick the team until after the selection process this spring/summer. There are lots of vids on RU-vid where you can learn more about her...and my friend longdoydoy has translated many of them for those of us that don't know Chinese :)
