*Ignore the spelling error in the beginning haha type-o. sorry!
montage of elite gymnasts training. I didn't realize this video was going to be such a success. I just threw this together, so i'm going to make another one with the same song. to make this one better. i don't like some of the cuts and some of it doesn't fit the music so i'll redo it but i'll keep this one on here. Thanks for helping the video get three honors (my first honors ever)

@misscandy56 I totally agree with you, and thats the same problem I had with my parents. I've been doing gymnastics for almost 7yrs now, but my parents constantly kept taking me out and putting me back in gymnastics smh

@xoxogossiplauren I've been an equestrian for many, many years now and I don't think that it's harder then gymnastics or the other around! Both are challenging sports. Though I do have to say, horses are never predictable. And you do see kids doing somersaults the first time in gymnastics and yes, kids start riding in their first lesson but you don't see them jumping six foot oxers either...

It's NOT legalized torture. When you see the coaches stretching them like that, these kids have been working up to that flexibility gradually and at that level it's not that bad... The coaches are being much more gentle that they look, trust me, I've been stretched like that before and they're very careful with you. Anyway, an Elite level in any sport is immensely difficult, and these gymnasts know it and they decide for themselves whether they can handle it.

Well I don't know what artistic gymnastics is but this is how the leveling goes in gymnastics : level 4, level 5, leel 6, level 7, level 8, level 9, level 10, elite, then olympic. So elite is basically the second highest ranking in gymnastics. Hope this helps! =)

it's a long story bu ti'd be viewed as a loser and i don't want to sit alone at lunch, but otherwise i wouldn't care it's just the only thing i can call mine without them having to ruin it foe me. gym is my escape whether i'm doing it or watching it so it's something that they can't take away
@ashleyakaflipper

well she is training to be elite i was going to put artistic gymnastics but elite sounded better. so it's like hard hard she had to go to even think about making it to elite so elite gymnastics is too hard. sorry about the confusion.

I agree on the fact that is child abuse, she's too young to decide if she wants to go through all of this to make an elite team. If at the age of 10 or 12 you go through this and want to continue that's your choice.

It's not as bad as it looks, in actuality it's not too bad, because you work up to it... And these kids CHOSE to do gymnastics... If it's too hard for them they can quit but they know what it takes.

I am an elite gymnast from Australia and trust me- it's complicated. I see people getting injured every day. And yes, i used to do soccer and it was crap (no offence). i went to gymnastics in 2011 and the coaches said i had a special "quality" and thats how i moved up so quickly. but gymnastics is basically a sport for everyone who loves it. I love it and i cant stop doing it. :)

Gymnastics defiantly takes a toll on everything.. i have been doing gymnastics for longer than i can remember I grew up in the gym with my brothers and i was born with severe Erbs Palsy so gymnastics was both my physical therapy as well as just what i love but after years of gymnastics my body is starting to break down i get home from gym and i can barely move and yet i can not imagine my life without it.. its true gymnastics has ups and downs but its what i love about it..

@MybiffleLexi18 As do gymnasts, sure at different things like gymnastics are good at beam, vault and bars, but cheer girls are good at, stunting, dancing and cheering.Both are very hard things to do but they go through similar things. Both are unbelievably flexible, have amazing balance, strength and beauty. So next time be careful what you post. It could hurt someone. And get the facts first.
@Chinadollz101
@Chinadollz101 13 лет назад
@MybiffleLexi18 You have to deal with judges only seeking perfection, coaches pushing to places you never thought you could go, and your team mates always trying to one up you. And cheerleaders go through these things too. Maybe not as much but we do. Cheerleaders do some really difficult things just like gymnastics. So don't stereotype cheerleaders as bimbos . We do have talent.
@famegirl45
@famegirl45 13 лет назад
@MybiffleLexi18 don't be putting them against each other, you trying to make this a competition between cheer and gymnastics? Flyers have to rlly trust the other people and have balance and flexability and the bases have to be able to hold up 100-130lb human and then there's the tumblers have to be able to do some gymnastics; I mean, i'm not serious in either, i'm just stating out in cheer, but i've always practiced and have respect for both.neway; most people in one do the other, uh; DUH!

@anniebear488 I can understand your statement and, of course, it's just impresive. And I'm sure there are lots of great women out there who even are enjoying this. But honestly, I know that lots were forced to train in their childhood. Getting love and appreciation only by showing good results. I think you should do it to a certain level both pupil/student and trainer. It's pretty hard to watch a 30 to 40 years old woman who is ruined physical. Heart and soul are most likely also affected :/.

@LoveFairy305 i agree. i discovered my love for gymnastics at the age of 13. though im sure its a bit easier for me than for a 15 year old, i know my chances of becoming a high level gymnast are slim. it makes me sad that i didnt take doing gymnastics seriously until i was 13. it would have been sooo much easier to learn the skills if i was younger. because when your younger you have less fear and its easier on your body. it definatly takes a lot longer for me to learn skills.

I Think Gymnastics is an amazing sport!! But people have to work so hard and it can be really expencive and we just don't have enough money :) but i still enjoy watching other gymnasts! I do lots of dance but thats the only sport my parents are interested in for me because they pay for it. Well my dad isn't interested but my mum is sometimes! I do running at school but none of my family have ever seen me run :( I only run at school so they never see me run :) xxx

@thexfreyax... I know how you feel... I'm a current gymnast and I train 5 times a week. The only time I have to not stress about homework is on Wednesdays. I hate it cause I'm always left out at parties or sleepovers, or just casual hangouts at a friends house. I've thought of quitting, but the thought of giving up YEARS of hard work, pain, and sacrifice is just way too much to just throw away. So all those people that think gymnastics is just a sport anyone can just pick up easily, think again.

ive been in gymnastics for 13 years and it is tough everyday u go into the gym. every gymnasts will have a moment when they r in so much pain that they wonder y they have stayed with this crazy sport so long but then you look over and c the little girl looking up at you and you realize y you started it in the first place and y you push through all the pain. we give up so much to be in this sport and many ppl dont understand y and nvr will but i love this sport and will give up anything for it

@elieccanaewicks and u do not think that dancer get just as furstrated and you think that we can eat whatever we want no. we do the exact same thing. but in dance we mask how ard it acualy it is by the beauty. try putting all your weight on the tips of your toes and wood around the toes yes we dont do bar or vault but we have to do things that are just as hard. like turing in place is hardfer than it sounds in tap we have to keep a steady rythem until u try a competition famce class dont compare
@arisMM
@arisMM 14 лет назад
@ilovemynickjonas92 well say which level u were. because untill i became level 10 all i wanted to do all day was gymnastics and now sometimes it gets frustrating just because u just can't do that one move. when u sit in the reaturaunt and see people calling their burger delcious u want it too but then u say it's for the best and order cheese salad or sth. i agree that ballet is really difficult i just don't agree with it being harder than gymnastics.

i know a few girls who went to parketts and while i hurt (mentally and physically) and they worked everyday and had to sacrifice a lot, they love it. they may cry in practice but they're not weak. no one gets to that level without wanting it BAD. p.s. i did gymnastics for 10 years and i recently had a serious knee injury and am done. i loved the shots of the girl chalking the bar. it's amazing how much you bond with those 2 poles haha

@DevinMichellexxoo umm the most dance gymnacts do is a turn or a leap thats it try doing that many turns on the tip of ur toes over and over again. Just because dance isnt in the olympics dosent mean its not hard in many studies dancers have a harder work out than you guys and i bet u will never ever make elite so unless you know dont talk and yes i did gymnastics and dance and i found dance harder
@dancingmonkey612
@dancingmonkey612 14 лет назад
@DevinMichellexxoo yeah those are like not hard core dancers. 3 of my friends have tendonitis and maybe if its really bad and they like cant walk they come and sit for a day but they come back the next day...it doesnt really matter. like dancers have some better things than gymnasts and gymnasts may have things that are better than dancers..but all in all there both intense and very hard.
@DevinMichellexxoo

Guys I didnt mean for it to come off as other sports aren't difficult, i know, i did mulitple sports before i did gymnastics. But no offence you dont see dancers doing a standing full on a beam thats 4 feet off the ground & five inches wide. But then again we dont do 10+ routines to memorize like dancers. I sprained my neck from falling on bars on wednesday & i still have to dance through routines & condition i have friends that are dancers & when they hurt their leg they're out for a month ---

@VintageStar385 horse riding? are you kidding??? you sit on the dumb horse and control it. A horse can be tamed and settled at times. you can exactly just stop yourself if you are falling off beam or bars, and you cant tame an apparatus. come to my training session and i will show you easy... they put young children on horses in their first or second lessons, but i dont see them doing a aerial or yurchenko even in the first 5 years of gymnastics!!!
@dancingmonkey612
@dancingmonkey612 14 лет назад
@xoxogossiplauren wow. whatever. alright. just like calm down. dancers deal with just as much as gymnasts do. and i dont take time off for a back injury.. like last year. im not even saying this is the worst injury a dancer has ever still danced with. i had a cast and a walking boot and i still danced because i couldnt miss anything. you like really need to calm down. my friends all have back injuries...do they take time off? no they still work their asses off. k? alright. s like bye.
@xoxogossiplauren
@xoxogossiplauren 14 лет назад
@dancingmonkey612 HAHAHA! Im an elite gymnast, and i dont see you guys doing a berani or front/back aerial on a four inch piece of wood. when dancer falls, they fall 2 feet to the ground, if a gymnast falls off a high beam, were falling a good 4 or 5 feet, and off high bars its about double. Speak to any doctor, a 'severe' injury to a dancer is something a gymnast works with every day - you take time off for a back injury, ive had 3 cortizone injections in 4 months and im still training!!!!!
@dancingmonkey612
@dancingmonkey612 14 лет назад
dance is JUST as hard. alright. so get over yoursleves. you get as many injuries...miss many fun childhood things to go to practice...the memory of having to remeber...GYMNASTS only have to remeber like 5 or 6 routines that are probably about 3 minutes long. im a dancer and this year i have 25 dances to remeber that are 3 minutes long. no one realzies how hard dance is. ive been doing gymnastics since i was 18 months old and competiting dance since i was 5. trust me...dance is harder...

Ya. pushing kids like this is unnatural. You can imagine there are negative consequences over the long term of this sort of thing. I've found balance a much better way to improve the body, and easier to maintain. I am doing it for well-being and improving myself. I'd rather be motivated to improve myself for a better body rather than be motivated to improve myself for competition and be judged and compared by someone else.

@summerx08x i know exactly how you feel! im a level 7, and its already so hard! and there's so much pressure put on you, and like today, one of my coachs is usually pretty cool, but today he just kept yelling at me, because i couldnt get my hands pulled back faster on my backhandspring on beam, and he wouldnt stop, and i ended up crying. people never understand unless there gymnasts

in the intro with Vanessa Atler, she wasn't as good as people pegged her. She couldn't handle pressure and she crumbled in ever meet. i can't say i've been impressed with any off the gymnasts since 1996 or before. i feel a lot of the skills have dwindled, and the scoring system drives me crazy, and i have yet to understand why they changed the vault. of course i'm 23, so i'm old :-p

I do gymnastics, but I don't do it 'seriously'. These people wouldn't be doing this if they didn't feel really passionately for gymnastics. It is easy to start crying - especially if you're trying to do a move you just can't get the hang of. It's more fustration and exhaustion than pain and being pushed too hard. You do have those bad moments, but 98% of the time you love love LOVE what you're doing.

I'm a coach and former figure skater.. no doubt physically gymnastics is the toughest sport.. but skating is the toughest mentally.. it is like doing balance beam.. but with the beam MOVING! I take any gymnast to the ice.. and for all of them is a humbling experience.. plus we have no mats on the ice.. etc.. etc. Also.. this video is misleading.. the crying girls are from Russia from the TRADING PLACES DVD.. Please.. don't mislead people.. state that that is in Russia.. in THE OLD TIMES!!

I have a lot of respect for gymnasts. It's common knowledge that their coaches don't ever pull punches in training. Plus, no matter how much I bench or how many push-ups I do...it seems as though I'll never be able to do so much as a handstand. I do a lot of hanging leg raises, and I know that the rope climbing with legs dead out at that angle has gotta be killer. What exactly is gymnastics camp like, anyway? What work do you do?

I agree with Manny17duce. No one should judge someone else bcuz everyone who has a passion to succeed will work as hard as they can. Some just accomplish their challenges easier than others but does not indicate which sport is more difficult. I am no gymnast but I am able to perform some moves and I love it. I've always wanted to be one and now at 25, I'm slowly working towards becoming a gymnast bcuz its what I love to do. There's a sense of accomplishment for each move I am able to perform

Both gymnastics and wrestling are equally hard in their different ways. I mean wrestling (i've never done it) but i've been to a meet, and trust me, i've seen worse done to gymnasts. This video is very true, and i mean gymnasts have to have major balance, flexibility, strength, and love of the sport. You actually have to participate in the sport, before you can judge it. Same with cheerleading. Alot of people judge it, but its harder than it looks. So i'd like to see you do a standing tuck

Ok please don't be offended or anything, Russian rhythmic gymnasts who may read this, but is it just me, or do most of the gymnasts seem more well nourished than those you see in the Russian training videos? Most of them have prominent muscles. I know that the Russain RGymnasts are strong too but they're so stick-figurey! And also, it seems to me that the Russian ones are more flat chested than the gymnasts in this video.

I do rhythmic gymnastics, but all this still holds true. My coaches managed to tear my hamstring (minor tear, but it still hurts like hell) but it toughened me up and got me to work harder to avoid injury and become stronger in the process. The only difficulty with RG that tends to be more prevalent than in the other form is thinness, and anorexia is a plague in the sport. Also, height is important and I could be considered slightly too short (thank God I'm still growing).

No, it's Alicia. I know it's her but just look when this video was uploaded, 2007- Aly would not have been at senior national camp 3 years before she became a senior, and I believe this footage is actually older than that again. If you look at photos of Alicia it is definitely her in this video. Aly would only be at most 13 and that is not the body of a 13 year old!

hello all, i am an elite gymnast, i am 14 and have been training since i was 4. this looks hard for people who don't do this every day, but you get used to it after a while. and honsetly it's not very hard, but you do have to shut out any fear, any rebelion, or any thing like that. but i do encurage any one who wants to, to do gymnastics!!! :)

haha i know how you feel i am thirteen and i just started gymnastics about a month or two ago! i am training with like five year olds!! but its funn because they look up to you and think that you are soo good because you are so much older than them! i say try it and if you dont like it then jsut quit! trust me it is worth it!

i disagree i think that gymnastics is then skating in different ways i take any figure skater on a beam........ try that! have you ever walked on a beam.... its harder then it look... gymnasts make it look easy but then again i dont think gymnasts can do all those fklips on ice they are the same but we train alot harder, more flexible and stronger..

It's not actually ouch. Her face look like it hurting her because you have to push against it to streach and her coach is prob stronger than her. The only ouch thing with streaching is when you don't have middle splits and they sit on you. You can't fight it. Thats why I streched at home when I was litle... too much pain.

i know how u feel. I have a huge fear of walkovers on beam and i refuse to do them so it puts me down a lot. U just have to find something that ur better at than them. I trained my flexibility at home and that something that im better at than them. u just have to equal out. and training balance and tumbling at home makes u improve faster.

did you really say that soccer is tougher than soccer? wooooww gymnastics isnt only a sport it is a way of life. seriously i spent 22 hours in the gym a week working by butt off & we probably run alot more than soccer players & do risky tricks that could kill you if your not strong enough or flexible which is why we work so hard for this sport.

you obviously never competed in a sport cause you would have never said something like this. Elite gymnasts are there because they want to be there and because they're good enough. No one can force anyone to be elite. You either have it or you don't. I was a gymnast for 10 years and it was the best time of my life.

I took gymnastics from 7 years old to 13. I have an hernia on the back because of it, nothing serious but sometimes annoying. I used to practice a lot but I didn´t want to stop growing at 4 or 5 feet besides my parents didn´t want me to travel alone. It was good to get nice sports skills, I do rock climbing outdoors and I think gymnastics gave the ability to do it.

Wow! my dtr is in in gymnastics and she loves it. she's only in level 3 but very close to level 4. the time and dedication not only from the gymnast but from the parents is a big thing too. does anyone know what gym this is at? there are some little girls in this video. just curious? my dtr is only 7.

the training in countries like russia and china is harder than what is shown in this video. not to belittle the gymnasts here but if you watch the videos of chinese gymnastics training, you will understand what I mean. because there is more competition w/in the nation, there is greater pressure to be better, which causes more of them to be at the olympic level.

Hey guys. Superb movie. My bro used to be a fatty. He transformed his body from 293 lbs of fat to 200 lbs of purely natural muscle mass. That shit was outrageous! I just signed up personally because I have to make improvements to my whole body. He used the Muscle Building Bible

@gymnastics77love, yeahh im an elite gymnast too and soo many people ask me questions like, "oh my god, how do you do all of this without falling?" and im like "pleasee you should see my bruises. and dont even get me started on the callouses on my hands from the uneven bars lol :)

I did gymnastics for three years and all I can remember is what the mat felt like when I fell. Not the joy of something new. But then I was diagnosed with scoliosis. It got worse and was told I had to quit or wouldn't be able to walk by age 30. No I can't even do a cartwheel.

@MybiffleLexi18 that's actually pretty offensive to me. I myself am a cheerleader for my high school but before that i did gymnastics. So i do know just how hard it can be and i think any one who has seen this know how hard gymnastics is. You need to be mentally and physically strong.

I know my comment may have offended some so I'd like to clarify that I do think gymnastics is the hardest sport in the world, I don't think it's the only one that causes major injury, and I wish that they'd show more gymnasts doing gymnastics in this vid instead of crying.

@thexfreyax You commit that you cry a lot but claim being strong? You really think there are only gymnasts who keep going training really hard? It´s time for people to understand that not the sport you do but the way you do it will make you be a great athlete...

@ilovemynickjonas92 I'm not even gonna say anything to that besides this: #1 I never said anything about me being an elite. #2 I know that dance is a sport. we do more dance than just turning & leaps. Look at optionals routines. we dance inbetween tumbling passes.
@DevinMichellexxoo

@dimestorebeauty exactly i couldn't agree more. but my point to that girl was that in order to be a gymnast you need to be able to dance. I honestly didn't mean for it to come off as every other sport isnt hard. but she was saying gymnastics is nothing compared to dance, which i strongly disagreed w/.

@VintageStar385 I quit tons of sports my 7th grade year because gymnastics took all of my time. Obviously the better you are at a sport the more time it's gonna take up, but at the particular level i'm at in gymnastics; its been tougher on me than any other sport i've ever done.

@DevinMichellexxoo Just come to my next practise of some other sports and you will see that gymnastics is hard but none of the other sports are less hard. To be successful you have to put in all you got and this goes for any sport on this world. There is no hardest sport...

A girl at my gym had a really hard time because she is an elite gymnast and during season she did an overshoot on bars during practice and had to be rushed to the hospital because she severley broke her arm and had to go in for surgery... she had to be out the rest of the season

i'm a pre-comp gymnast and most of the stuff in the video is not much harder than what i do andno harder than what competitive gymnasts should be able to do. I cry if I can't get be as good as the good people in my class. If you don't win, it's really crushing, for everything.

@Bubblesxoxo3 you say crying is a part of it...I don't think continuous physical pain that brings you tears is...that guy pushing on the girls leg? yeah it streaches it, but she is YOUNG her bones are still MATURING...she's gonna have physical issues when she's older.

im sry, i really dont mean to sound rude, but why does EVERYBODY whose ever been in gymnastics feel the need to say" ooooh, i know what this is like, i train so and so hours a week, blah blah blah, its like who asked you??? we dont even know you!! let alone care about u! sry its just super annoying!

Finally....a video that shows both sides...It's not all fun and games. It's frustrating and it hurts sometimes, but it's the end result that keeps gymnasts going....it's the payoff of winning, of looking back on accomplishments, of knowing how far they've come...that's what the sport is about.

I don't think the video is suppose to be mean :S It's just showing the pain of elite gymnastics, not to state that it's harder than any other sport. I do cheerleading and gymnastics, they both have their ups and downs to get through.Overall, I think think this is a great video!
