My first campaign in 1.34 was Denmark and I did really well. I basically replaced England and even took London as my capital colonized all the areas they did. I got the unifieid kalmar monarchy and became Scandinavia and made the Danelaw, and then I spent the next century on trade companies. But then I got my tea achievement a bit randomly and anticlimactically so then I was done, but I got a bonus achievement related to navies that I forget now.

About the long sieges: You're forgetting that your taking an entire province, not a single castle. In real life, taking a province required multiple smaller sieges and thus a lot more time than in game. Just look at how slow progress was in the eighty years war, considering how small the area is

my denmark campaign went a bit differently. poland never PU'd lithuania, for some reason, and i just kept eating up land in novgorod and the teutonic order so i'd be bigger than my other vassals in the kalmar union. a bit of noble appeasement on top of that and i never really had any problem with loyalty from my 2 PU partners. then i just steamrolled with scandanavian traditions.

My second campaign in 1.34 was as Denmark and it was really fun. I managed to PU Britain and Bohemia, and then late game PUed Austria, and was able to integrate them in 10 years thanks to the government reform. In the end I had exactly 25,000 dev, all either stated or in trade company, as I had eaten basically all of India and China.

Integration of subjects during peace time can stop if their captial is occupied. During war time, if any part of their land is occupied, it will stop. At 17:15 you can see that little part of Norway in the british isles is occupied

Denmark should have the ability to integrate both in 1450 or have the decision to change the tag to Kalmar Union at admin tech 5 if Sweden has a liberty desire under 50 and a unification CB over all the Bavarian tags and also Aragon, Castile and Portugal have a unification CB over Burgundy, And France should also have an option to go back to the Capets so France can get an unification CB over all Christian Iberia and all the southern Italian tags! So Im saying France can form Western Rome early and then have a mission to make the Ottomans Catholic if they are Western Rome and then gain permanent claims over land owned by Ottomans at the time they have forced the Ottomans to become Catholic and when the Ottomans become Catholic the dominant Persian dynasty gets permanent claims on all Muslim tags with capitals west of the Bhramaputra and if the tag whom has the Bhramaputra is Muslim all their lands are included and also all Muslim lands west of the Bhramaputra. And both tags (Rome and Persia) gets a permanent CB to make the Chinese Emperor your religion. And if one have the Third Rome DLC the dominant Orthodox tag gets permanent claims on all old Roman land when Western Rome are formed and if the dominant Orthodox tag is a Russian tag they gets permanent claims on China if they form Rome! I get the feeling sometimes that the AI is cheating just to screw over the player, to the point it is sabotaging itself when it is allied to you. I played as Poland and had PU over lithuania and hungary yet i felled like im weaker than muscovy who was half size the army of me and my PUs and i nearly lost because of stupid ai decisions and muscovy just picked smaller armies. Also want fo conquer some small guy? Small guy got alliance with a country twice your power and you arent even a rival. I tried fo play as lubeck and meckleburg had alliance with Poland like 4 restarts in a row even tho it normally dont happen ever.

Imagine complaining about sieges when you have 2 free diplomats and don't create spy network
