Thanks for the reply T1Brit. I realized i was cranky in my original comment, my apologies. I'm familiar with the UN stats, i think in many ways free market globalization has benefited many, but also exploited and harmed many. It's too big a phenomenon to generalize. The problem is we live on a planet with finite resources, and that true capitalism as you described it is usually supplanted by corrupt corporate statism that is destroying the environment and indigenous cultures all over the planet.
it is wonderful that he is aware of our dependance on the biosphere, but it is also quite obvious that 99.9% percent of life on earth has gone extinct. The very entity that supports life, also destroys it. Perhaps we should acknowledge this aspect as well. Perhaps the other realm that DMT brings us too is the true world, and this is the realm for the deluded. Not making a judgement, but rather pointing out some possibilities.
As someone who actually comes from Russia, i have to say that you have no idea what you're talking about here. The standard of living increased for a FEW people in Russia, mostly the urbanized upper class and oligarchs, while the majority live in greater poverty, violence and despair. And i say this as someone who despises the soviet state and ideology. However, i also see how efficient capitalist propaganda is at convincing people who benefit from it that capitalism is good for everyone.
“You don’t think we would really allow this to happen, do you?” And one day, a pangolin stolen out of the forest delivered a message that shuttered half the world’s population for a month. The canals in Venice cleared. The skies above Guangzhou cleared. The animals came down out of the mountains into the cities. The Earth took a breath. Now that’s a message.
