when dennis rodman got emotional after winning the defensive player of the year award, the tears started rolling down my face too...will always be a fan of the worm and his work ethic...
It must’ve been the first time in his entire life where he really felt appreciated and loved and his mind simply didn’t know how to process the emotions that came along with that. This is why we love Dennis Rodman. He wears his heart on his sleeve and you just get to see that raw emotion that the vast majority of players are too afraid to show.
Check out the full clip of when he breaks the Pistons rebounding record. Everyone gives him a standing ovation and he starts crying in the middle of the game
turtles On one of these videos he's on a round table with, Drexler, Horry and David Robinson. And they all take turns speaking in regular male deep voices. And then Pippen says something and they all chime in with much deeper voices saying, "Yeah, Yeah". "That's true." "Right, right." It's funny as hell how they were all aware of how deep his voice is.
Gary Thompson yeah but Rodman’s role isn’t to carry the team, not even the second best player on a team, heck not even a scorer for the team. Consider all he has done being a simple role player who played his heart out, who evolved into a key piece for a championship contender. He made other teams pay with his defense and hustle like no other player in the history of nba. He may not block like Wilt or Kareem or Olajuwon but watch legends talk about Rodman, even they know that he was different in the way he played defense. Rodman isn’t to be judged by his playoff wins or championships, but by his hustle that affected the game in big ways.
Evan Eduard yh but he means when you think greatest PF of all time you don’t even think Dennis rodman because sports favours offense, when in all honestly he should be regarded as top 5
zasetko that's not true, Rodman couldnt guard Jordan 1 on 1 either, the pistons "Jordan Rules" was a team effort, if I recall it was Dumars who guarded Jordan mostly.
zasetko it's usually whoever's the closest, but Rodman did double hard whenever he got the chance, I was just saying Bad Boys' defensive dominance was a team effort, not individual :)
I feel like if he was 7ft + he would be getting like 50 rebounds like wilt.I know its not always height. but tenacity and he had alot of that. Just imagine.
lalygill Loved his hustle and how much he would fight to get a rebound. I'm lucky I was able to witness the last year of the Bulls 3 peat and watch Dennis.
rottishake Are you comparing a MVP award against a best defencive player award? And even soo, Rodman showed more passion. For a award most people don't even care about
Btw, why did you say anymore? I don't think Jordan cried for any awards, Barkley, Malone, Hakeem all didn't cry either. Even the Hall of fame admission they didn't, only Rodman.
rottishake My point is that basketball was more valued as a sport to athletes as it is now. Now most people treat it as a "money-maker" rather than something they love doing. NBA players are getting paid way more now than back then.
Mark Attalla You got a whole lotta learning to do kid. Wilt's, Russell's and everyone in that era has inlfated stats. 1. Look up the word inflation. 2. Find out how their stats are inflated. 3. Come back to me and tell me you were wrong. Dwight Howard and Moses Malone also > Wilt and Russell.
3:54 I love how Dennis is shirtless, surrounded by fans clamoring for his jersey and mobs of media staff and cameramen...but still gives Steve a tap on the arm. Above all the madness, team comes first...the ultimate teammate.
I hate that he's known as a Bulls player. He was a member of the Pistons family, and that's why he was kept under check. Probably the best defender ever, and vastly underrated.
Because the Pistons obviously didn't want him enough to keep him even though he helped them win a title. He won more titles with the Bulls anyways that's why
I work at the nightclub XS in Vegas and Rodman came in just last week. I hardly recognized him because like the video says you would think he was taller the way he dominated the game. Amazing player and a really nice guy too. The league needs more players like him.
EAchank draymond can’t lockdown nobody he wouldn’t last if Dennis lock him up draymond would get ejected from the game because of him and he wouldn’t get no rebounds over Dennis draymond is trash
D-Rod kicked ass! I remember a game i was watching a game on NBC when San Antonio was playing Orlando and Shaq was destroying David robinson. They switched and Rodman took Shaq and held him scoreless for the last 3 minutes of the game and the spurs won! He was that dominant defensively.
Rodman took massive media pressure off of Jordan and Pippen. =They could focus on winning while Rodman had the focus of the media and the other team. Even took pressure off the coach.
There were 2 peaks of rodman's career. One with BB Detroit , one with Bulls. and yes he is one of the greatest defenders of all time, but there were people like bill russell, wilt chamberlain, joe dumars, bill laimbeer.
Remember watching games with Rodman especially on the Bulls. If a shot bounced off the rim, it was followed by Rodman's hand grabbing it. Never seen a player that could rebound like him. What made it more amazing is that he wasn't built like your typical rebounder at all.
Being born and raised in Chicago, and a true basketball fan. The day we signed him i knew we had a great chance of running the table in the n.b.a. Really don't think we could have not only ran the 3 back to back rings but some of the series Indiana,Cleveland,Boston and who could forget the New York Knicks. With out those 10, 12+ rebounds per game never happen. One of a kind 'The Worm'
Duncan at PF and Dream at C. You had the first 3 right. Russell or Lakers version of Wilt at backup C. Dirk backing PF for a change of pace. Pippen at SF/point forward. Kobe and Steph backup guards.
1:52 tells you right there how great a rebounder he is. Albeit with much struggle, he just out rebounded the second best rebounding forward in the league there in Charles barkley. Look at em go! 2 best rebounding forwards going head-to-head
I agree with Zo. Rodman is one of the most criminally underrated players ever. He's an all-time great but because he didn't score people don't recognize it.
One of the most unusual skill sets ever. Zero scoring skills. And I mean zero, by NBA standards. He averaged like, what 7 points a game. He absolutely dominated everywhere else.
Ary Dani correct if you go back to his Detroit days, he even averaged 11 points and almost 14 rebounds a game, if you look at his college days he averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds per game, rodman has the best basketball IQ out of any player I've seen
@@y2shuproblem really I think he would learn to use the rules to his advantage. He strikes me as the kind of guy who would draw the offensive fouls and also make it look like he got fouled when he played offensive. Im pretty sure be was a decent ft shooter
Dennis Rodman truly had one of the most remarkable NBA careers a player could ever wish for. 1986-1993 Detroit Pistons (2x Champion) - Played with Hall of Famers: • Isiah Thomas • Joe Dumars • Adrian Dantley • Coached by HOF Chuck Daly 1993-1995 San Antonio Spurs - Played with Hall of Famers: • David Robinson • Moses Malone • GM under HOF Gregg Popavich 1995-1998 Chicago Bulls (3x Champion) - Played with Hall of Famers: • Michael Jordan • Scottie Pippen • Steve Kerr (future HOF) • Coached by HOF Phil Jackson 1998-1999 Los Angeles Lakers - Played with Hall of Famers: • Kobe Bryant • Shaquille O’Neal 1999-2000 Dallas Mavericks - Played with Hall of Famers: • Steve Nash • Dirk Nowitzki • Coached by HOF Don Nelson __________________________________________________ Personal accomplishments in NBA: - Inducted into NBA Hall of Fame - 5x NBA Championship - 2x NBA Defensive Player of the Year - 8x NBA All Defensive Selection of the Year - 2x NBA All Star - No. 10 Jersey retired by the Detroit Pistons - Led the NBA in rebounds 7 seasons in a row - Only player in history to have 20+ rebounds in a game . with 5 different teams …more important than all these impressive accolades that Dennis Rodman has racked up throughout his spectacular professional basketball career, I’d say the most amazing of all is the fact that he went to North Korea and dunked on the Prime Minister. Fascinating! Bless ‘the worm’ and his illustrious NBA career! 🏀
Man Dennis if you ever see this message i truly love you bro. I think you got a good heart and wish you many blessings on your life. You may not have been the perfect person but you were the person who tried the hardest at times your own demons got hold and you surparssed them and went on to bring and do something positive to the world. The world may not understand you, i may not understand you but i love you man keep being you.
If it wasn't for his addiction, he probably would have had a longer NBA career than he did and could have had more rings on his fingers, but still he had an amazing career
people forget how amazing he was...he would shut down EVERYONE...completely fearless going up for those boards...completely sacrificed his body, never gave up an inch to anyone...had to be one of the most frustrating people to ever play against
And we need not forget that it was due to a clear vision the mastermind and Zen master Phil Jackson.... Because other than him, NO OTHER coaches and mgt of the rest of big NBA team rivals at that time have ever thought Dennis Rodman could make a significant impact of their team's probability of winning more games if they would get him to their team... The genius and clear foresight of Phil Jackson had sealed Rodman's fate to be a Bull... It is the team in the league of NBA of which he rightfully belongs because he is a star above anyone else on that domain.
hes the best at what he does...he had a role and he stuck to it and was legendary...lebron's "role" is to win championships by building a team around him...you could never build a team around rodman...
Stop that horse crap. He isn't better than lebron. Both of them have their specialties, to compare them is stupid. One is a 5-time NBA champion, 2 time NBA DPOY, 8 time NBA all defensive team and a 2 time NBA all star, the other is a 3x NBA champion, 3X nba finals MVP, 4 times NBA MVP, NBA ROTY , 3X all star game MVP, 14x All star. Both are extremely skilled at what they do and both of them are already in the HOF, like when scottie pippen was asked if MJ was the goat, scottie got pissed and replied with MJ is not the goat, as people who compare other players with MJ did not play at the same era, they were supposed to do different things, how can you compare them?
