Dennis Sanders put on a great display at the 2016 Planes of Fame airshow with the Sanders family Hawker Sea Fury. This video was pieced together from both the Saturday and Sunday routine.
Superb , Thankyou Dennis, and also thankyou for preserving Sydney Camms last piston engine masterpieces especially with the engines they were designed for.
Well I, m stuck for words, Really Gifted Pilot, Seems to know the Aircraft really well, Lovely Aeroplane, And credit to you for the fantastic filming, I for one really enjoyed that. Thank you for Sharing !!
malcolmbrady1958 Thank you!! You are correct, Dennis is very good at the stick in the Sea Fury, he and his brother Brian have been flying them since they we kids, they have more hours in them then anyone!!
Just the very best! I had the privilege of meeting Dennis Sanders at the Reno Air Races in 2001(Sadly cancelled) and 2003 with Dreadnought the P&W 4360 engined Sea Fury. What a lovely person and a great pilot.
Wow. Did I just take a trip back in time. I saw Frank Sanders fly that beautiful plane at Oshkosh back in the mid '70s. My 15 year old jaw was on the ground. Thank you.
What a performance! Thanks for sharing this. What a sound the Bristol Centaurus makes. The Sanders family sure do put on a good show. Hope to see them perform in person sometime. :-)
jerseybean59 That's how the fartingtractor spells words in his "Americanese" language. He hates the British so much he would choke before admitting that what he is actually taking is the English language, so he has made up a new name for it, called "Americanese". Every site that he infests show that he hates the British with a foaming-at-the-mouth passion, but he has never actually said why. He's pretty stupid, actually...
Now we wait for Willy Wanka, the flatulentfarmmachine to tell us exactly *why* the Centaurus is "piece of shit engine". He must have a reason for that claim. Oh...wait, it's a *British* engine! There's the answer, right there.
And that, girls and boys, is the standard erudite, coherent, well-thought-out response from the most filthy-mouthed, bigoted, racist, most *infantile* piece of garbage on the internet. An eight-year old autistic has better social skills. Willy Wanka forfeited his humanity long ago and now exists only to parade his hatred of the world on the only medium that will still tolerate him.
I wondered about this myself, but is it possible to match the 5 blade with a P&W or Wright radial too ? From what I have heard, most Fury's still flying have Wright engines - because the Centaurus is hard to maintain, but I am often wrong !
Paul Murphy...I would have taken my chances in US aircraft, Then and Now.....` Where did you come up with your figures?......Air-to-air combat is the engagement of flying machines in warfare in which one or more aircraft tries to destroy one or more other aircraft. The Korean War saw the greatest amount of air-to-air combat since World War II. During the war the United States claimed to have shot down around 700 fighters.[A 1][3] After the war the USAF reviewed its figures in an investigation code-named Sabre Measure Charlie and downgraded the kill ratio of the North American F-86 Sabre against the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 by half from 14:1 to 7:1.[3] One of the factors inflating US numbers was that most dogfights took place over enemy-controlled area. The only way to confirm kills was through gun camera photography. USAF pilots were credited with a kill if the gun camera showed their guns striking the enemy aircraft even if no one actually saw it go down.[4] However, Soviet kill claims were also highly exaggerated, based upon inherent flaws in their film grading procedures. For instance, the S-13 gun camera was not aligned with either the gunsight or either cannons' ballistics. It ran only while the firing buttons were depressed. Film graders commonly included unit commanders and political commisars who would confirm a "kill"-sometimes even if one had not been claimed by a pilot-when the camera's crosshairs touched the target for two movie frames. During the first 16 months of combat Soviet V-VS units claimed 218 F-86s destroyed when only 36 (35 to the two elite IADs and one to the 50th IAD) had been lost. This results in a 600 per cent inflation rate in victory credits over actual Sabres destroyed.
This airplane previously owned by the late, Lloyd Hamilton. Lloyd had flown the plane from England to Santa Rosa in 1977 or 1978. Then sold the plane tp Frank Sanders.
Take me back to the late 50s early 60s to HMCS Shearwater and the MAGGIE. I,m 80 now but those were the days. I got to do a run up on one of these lovely birds tied down to the ground. What a kick in the ass for guy that got to work on them.
1946nimrod The wankingtractor just can't resist, can he? It's the pathetic, empty life, he lives. At least he's now spelling the engine's name properly, even if he's missing the capital letter.
soaringtractor 👈😂 Hahaha, listen to this dickpiece, poor little bullied at school failure, trying to salve his massive inferiority complex with his childlike online nonsense....the unfortunate little clown,to be pitied and laughed at in equal measure.
soaringtractor 👈😂 Little soaringclown,"snowflake" ?😂 How pathetic are you with your Trumpanzee terms....silly little boy, that school bullying really has affected you hasn't it,still you've always got making a twat out of yourself on RU-vid to make yourself feel better eh,princess....?
Not an aircraft mechanic here, but i was wondering about the lopey idle. Reminds me of drag racers. The engines had cams that had large overlaps. Is this what I'm hearing here?
David Dierlam The wankingtractor hates everyone, so don't take his filthy mouth personally. He has a problem with social skills, which are totally non-existent.
Just looking at the smoke puffing from the engine as the aircraft was taxiing back to its parking spot. Normal for a Centaurus, or any radial, for that matter, but I'd be getting pretty concerned if my Camry blew smoke like that.
Dash Riprock No, Dreadnought is still running strong, this Sea Fury (924) has been in the Sanders family a long time. Check out this video to see them both arriving to Reno a few years ago. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q19OqdHQiE4.html
I saw the Dreadnought at Oshkosh in the airshow with the smoke generators , Glad to know it's still around. What a beautiful airplane this one is . Keep'm flying .
It's such a pity the Bristol centuries engine is being replaced by the pw 2800 in most remaining sea furys l can understand the need to change as the Centaurus engine is no longer obtainable owing to the small number made in comparison to the pw2800 parts often hand mad
Years ago they had a P&W 4360 engine , I don't know about now . I got this from their website:Home Base: Ione, CA Model: T Mk.20 Wing Span: 38' 5" Length: 35' 6" Height: 17' 1" Max Speed: 500 mph Gross Weight: 12,500 lbs Power Plant: Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major Horsepower: 4,000+
soaringtractor , well aren't you just the most cancerous twat on the planet. I suggest you go watch some video on American aircraft if British aircraft annoy you so much. Sheesh!
The Spitfire might be the most iconic fighter of WWII but the Sea Fury has bested it in performance and aesthetics. What an awe inspiring flying machine!
Aw, come on Wilbur! Say something nice for those new to these parts! You old sod! Did you remember to have your grits for breakfast? Did you get to put on some clean long-johns? How is life in the corn fields these days? Don't forget to smile. You just never know if some Aliens are taking pictures of you from behind the barn. Take care, Bill.
That's more like it, Wilbur! Pour on the maple syrup. Sweeten yourself up to greet a new dawn. Oh, before you do, have a look in the mirror - check everything is in one piece. And don't forget to salute Old Glory while you're at it! Kind regards, Bill.
