This is an extract from a series which I think used to run in the early nineties on terrestrial TV in the UK (poss BBC2).
Dennis Taylor would spend each week with this family from Scotland and teach them new snooker stuff.
Apologies for the poor sound.

Jack had a great voice. He's sadly missed on the BBC commentary team.

@watfordtripod Never knew personally but he did come across as a nice fella when he commentated, what I would call a players commentator who really understood what they were going through. I remember he got quite emotional when Kirk Stevens did his 147 at the B & H Masters not long after Cliff Thorburn did his.

What was this programme called? Seem to recall Taylor knocking in a 90 ish break playing just slide top on every shot. Effortlessly.

The people saying that a 33 break is "bad" after playing the game for five years obviously haven't played much snooker and don't know what they're on about. It's not an easy game by any means!

Oh for a radio station that would just have story time with Ted Lowe and Jack Karnehm. If an insomniac couldn't sleep they could try them.

Im the 16 year old from this clip, i was told to say id only been playing for 9 months with a high break of 20. Series was recorded in 1988 at BBC Scotland in Glasgow. Didnt do me any harm, ended up highest break of 105.

I saw you on the other video on RU-vid with Dennis Taylor coaching yourself, Walter, Nora etc... Could tell you were a decent player, even at that age!

Many years ago, I visited Jack for tuition, He coached me for a few weeks on his Table, and then gave me this advice:- Throw your cue in that bin over there, and take up another sport, because you'll never be able to play Snooker, and you're wasting good money trying! At least he was honest!

Think this series was called "Play Snooker" or something similar to that effect and was shown around tea-time

@watfordtripod Agree with you totally mate. I don't watch much televised snooker now, in fact I spend more time watching the nostalgia clips on YT! Higgins' century in less than 4 mins is pure class!

Jack Karnehm could have made a few quid narrating audio books. Furthermore, this is video evidence that he may have been the most patient human being in history.
