Thank you Dr. Ryan ! I really wish I had known about your channel when I was in the first year of my dental school. I've always found Dental Anatomy daunting, but you've made it so easy to understand ! Your channel is a boon for every dental student out there.... I really appreciate it !

Doubt: Minute 12:20. I don't understand why you say that the DF cusp of tooth 19 moves over the transverse groove of the oblique ridge of tooth 14? I understand that the trajectory which the condyle describes in the balancing movement causes the DF cusp of tooth 19 to move diagonally, forward and towards the right side of the patient, starting from the contact point, which is the central fossa of the tooth 14. However, the transverse groove of the oblique ridge is not located forward of (or mesial to) the central fossa of tooth 14, on the contrary, it is located behind (or distal to) the central fossa of tooth 14. The DF cusp of tooth 19 would then have to move posteriorly in order to pass over the transverse groove of the oblique ridge of tooth 14, and that does not agree with any of the movements explained in the video. Sorry for my English. Thank you for your excellent work Dr. Ryan.

Is there any video about the physiologic tooth form protecting the periodontium in your channel ?

If we get working and non working movements for a patient with posterior crossbite, the numbering would be in reverse? also with patients with class 2 or 3 interference, how would be the numbering and position look like?
@mentaldental
@mentaldental Год назад
Ah, that would significantly complicate things (and you would likely never get a practice question on it). You wouldn’t necessarily reverse the numbers, because the posterior crossbite could be buccal or lingual. Being a “non-ideal” occlusion would require you to “shift” all the numbers together either up, down, left, or right accordingly.

Are the numbers in blue and magenta on the occlusal grid denoting the tooth number?
@mentaldental
@mentaldental Год назад
The numbers do not denote tooth number, I could have used letters or symbols instead. The idea is to make it easiest to remember how to recreate the grid and match upper occlusal contact with lower occlusal contact.
@JayJay-rb3fm
@JayJay-rb3fm Год назад
Hey Dr Ryan, do we grind BULL or LUBL for working side interferences? Thank you 🙏🏻
@mentaldental
@mentaldental Год назад
Technically, either would work to reduce working side interferences if you refer to the drawing back at 4:15. However, I tend to stick with BULL for occlusal adjustments!
