Wow 12 yrs, I see you have some time in lol. I’m pretty sure you have a great personality and treat your patients with care, that’s why they love you. Keep up the good work buddy and know that your work ethics rub off on others 👍🏼
@@thedentalassistant1877 thanks! It was difficult back 12 yrs ago. No patients expected a male dental assistant. After a lot of hard work, overcoming my shyness, earning trust with my patients, it became a fun job. I love teeth. I love serving and making my patients comfortable and happy. To all the "newbies " ...hang in there . It takes time. Dont be discouraged. Ive been thru the same
I just got hired as receptionist in a dental clinic but i have severe anxiety but i still try to talk to patients but i stutter i came here for some tips.
I have some tips for you. Be yourself. Talk with the patients just like close friends, excluding the profanity lol. With experience comes perfection. Know you will make mistakes and except and learn from them. You got this! Go get it and show your unique personality.
I think so yes because it helps with receiving reviews, giving patients the chance/opportunity to ask questions and it avoids indirect misunderstandings when a patient says "another one without a name"
Hey! It’s perfect professional way of greeting pt! I have started my journey as dental receptionist week before! I also find difficulty in communicating with pt. As I don’t feel confident, because I don’t have that much vocabulary of professional words! Can you please suggest me that how can I improve my communication with patients?
Hello, you can ask the Doctor(s) you work with and Assistants to help you with the Dental lingo you don’t understand and write them down with the meanings. Also keep using the new words you have learned so they will become part of your vocabulary. As far as you talking with the PTs you can ask general open end questions like. How was your weekend?, how are they feeling today, or you can throw a little mix in it as I do and ask them to share with you some good news they may have. Try to match the patient’s energy is a good technique as well. I hope this helped you. Thank you for your comments and question. 👍🏼. You got this! 💪🏼
Greeting patients is soo important! It's their first experience with the clinical staff and it can make or break your relationship in my opinion. I think we've all been there, getting called in from the waiting room by a less than friendly staff member...it sucks! Always gotta treat the patients how you want to be treated! Great videos!! Your edits are hilarious lol
You are absolutely correct in your comment and from what I hear you are one of the Dental Assistants who cares for their patients. Keep up the great work and thank you for your comments :-)
🙏 Any advice please will help me a lot ?? ! Because yesterday I went to the school for dental assisting and the orthodontist assisting, the school told me if I take both of them I will have a discount, when I discover the first class in calendar is orthodontist assisting and I took it yesterday only for two hours....and the lady that I thought she's a Dentist doctor teacher , she's only as office manager, she did reading for 40 pages ,and she's done using only papers without showing a model doll mouth to understand ,it was hard for me to understand!! And she gave us immediately a test ,I'm sure I will get a bad score !! That's why I'm thinking to quit....to not waste my money!! Or I have to take dental assisting classes first ??What do you think!! 🤔🙏🙏🙏❤
Hello ORI, My suggestion to you is, if you have to pay back a loan regardless if you quit or don't then definitely finish the program to at least try and get your money's worth. However if you can walk away from the program with no strings attached then do so. Then try finding a school or trade School that has the right professionals teaching the proper lessons. A way to find that out is asking the new potential program who is teaching the course? How long have they been in the dental field? What experience do they have? And what position did they have in the field? The professionals who can give you the right education would be current or past Dental Assostans, hygenist, EFDAs (Expanded functions of the Dental Assistant) and any Dentists, preferably someone who is still in the field do to how things are constantly changing. A Office manager might be able to teach you if they have General Dentistry experience. Someone who has only Orthodontist experience alone can teach who how a dental office runs but Orthodontist and General Dentistry are two different ball games. The procedures and tray setups are different and a Orthodontist Assistant is more hands on than a General Assistant who mostly sets the operatories and helps with the procedures. If you have to keep going to the place your going to. Learn the teeth surfaces, tooth numbers, Learn and speak in Dental terminology, tray setups for procedures like what instruments need to be used for fillings, root canals, extractions, etc...and definitely get your radiology certification. I hope this helped you. Thank you for reaching out to me :-)
Hello, you can definitely work at most Dental Offices as an assistant and not be a CDA. Some offices prefer a CDA but a lot of offices I’ve worked at do not require it. If you have you DANB Radiology Certification it definitely gives you have an advantage over those who do not have one. I hope this helped and thank you for your question.
If you are a dental assistant, can you move up to be dental hygienist? because I was planning to major as dental assistant even tho I am a man which gender doesnt matter at all of course.
