I got stuck too! On October 8th, I wanted to take a ride on the DIA Airport Train for fun. I was boarding a Frontier Flight BTW. The train was sitting there to B and C Gates for 2-1 Minute. Some announcements were not working. After arriving at C Gates, I wanted to take the loop around back to other side of C Gates, but a train was arriving to the other side. We ended up taking the sorta crowded train back. But it sat there doors open for about 1-2 Minutes. We took it back but it was sitting there with doors closed for about 2-4 minutes. It opened the doors again but only the inner doors. Why the the outer doors not open? IDK. It closed again, sat there for another 1-4 minutes, open doors, closed them again for about 3-4 times. It then started moving finally, at 5-10 miles per hour (Might have been on manual or maintenance mode) (No train delay announcements btw). It then stopped at 75 percent of the way to B Gates. Then after 30 seconds, the train finally started moving at full speed. We didn’t miss our flight though.
Very nice video of the train! I make similar round trip videos of the train. My next round trip video will be published in the next week or so. I only do round trip videos between Concourses C & A because if I did a full round trip, the video will be too long.
The deflated tire caused it to drag, which damaged the tracks. People on that train even evacuated through the tunnel. It also caused 4 trains to lose power.
I'm not sure honestly. I know the trains were running a different route into the terminal station than usual during this video, which always feels kinda weird. Do you have the timestamp that I mention the ride being weird?
A decade ago I flew from Denver to LAX to Maui and the service pattern was the same as shown in the video (using the east station instead of the west). The old arrival announcement at the terminal (with the bells & whistles sfx) was the same except with Adele Arkawa's voice and the outbound arrival jingle that was way more commonly heard in the concourses at that time. But it's clear at this point that the terminal's west station was the default service mode ever since opening day. If you look at a photo of the main arrivals hall, you'll notice the metal fence directing arriving passengers to the left or right is only next to the arrival portal on the west side and not on the east side (which is usually blocked by roped fencing [and the exit guard] when not in use).
