I've always loved how in the russian gang scene in the intro where he closes the door multiple times showing another sign implying Denzel suffers from OCD. I love the thought that they made what can be a crippling mental disorder fuel for one of the most lethal efficient cold blooded calculating assassins ever, THAT is some good details in writing right there B)
Crazy how he just ruthlessly and nonchalantly stabs homie in the lungs and then severs his spine from his body in a fluid motion. One of the most brutal kills in the trilogy.
That's evidence of WILLFULLY PRACTICING AND APPLYING WHAT "YOU'VE TRAINED TO FOR APPLICATION WHEN NEEDED!" THAT'S WHY IT LOOKS SO COLD WHEN IN REALITY IT'S THE RESULTS OF YOUR PRACTICING "WHILE THE GAME IS ON!"
Denzel as McCall takes "cold blooded" to a whole other level. He kills efficiently, and dispassionately while watching the life drain from his opponents.
3:18 I don’t even know how to explain how I feel about him feeling remorseful and apologizing to the dude after killing him. It’s like he’s still human and sane even tho he just slaughtered an entire gang, Robert could have left the room but knew the poor girl was never going to be free after they rejected the money. He only kills in the name of “vengeance” cuz he values and respects people’s livelihood good and bad. Each time before he goes and murks everyone, he always gives them a chance to “make things right” and that’s what’s so cool about Robert. He doesn’t want to kill anyone unless it’s “necessary”
I just realised when he said to those guys “the only bad thing is I only kill you once” he killed that guy three different ways like he wanted symbolic 😮
I think 80% of men have the capacity to be like the equalizier actually. It's that few have the courage and the presence of mind to commit to the dark ruthlessness in their nature. So we pad ourselves out with comradary, pleasure, and ways to bolster the ego where we fail to discipline it Two things I notice watching these scenes. One is that Denzel's precognition is a function of imagination, he is rarely confused because his mind put those events there. The other is that even while fighting a losing battle, his opponents take it to the bitter end because their pride won't let them conceive a reality where they get to lose And you lose it ALL. Lessons learned from his cardiac arrest speech. 9800 and you just don't want to admit that another man can make it happen to you. This is why I believe that men are actually capable, we just have the right amount of humanity to dispel the baser merits of our nature, becoming fodder. When your eyes are open to the dark, you see why you should know the line of *too far* . Then you know that you shouldn't be on the other side of ruthless behavior, its unbecoming of someone with a conscience
And the ocean just takes out the trash. Just like that. One minute there? Next minute gone. One wave. The cold brutal efficiency of Mother Nature. One of John's best lines in that movie? "My only regret? I only get to kill you once." Just straight up ruthless. But casual. Like they were having a beer. Denzel is the OTHER Baba Yaga.
This what makes the first and second movie the best the third kinda lose on what makes him so badass it become a typical john wick movie....just my opinion tho
I just always find it funny when he just sets his watch, like it’s nothing to ji 😂, the way he pulled his sleeves to set his watch like, ok time to work
I love how relatively clean the room still looks when he's done. He does all of this equalizing without making so much noise or destroying things - minimal collateral damage.
@Daindrais Like Hell!!! When The Equalizer steps into the room and starts a countdown timer, it's time to get the HELL out of the room - Out of the building!
Love watching these fight scenes!! They are so realistic. They are so much better than the Kung Fu movies where there is lots of kicking and punching. In real life, you want to disable your opponent as fast as possible. Denzel does that brilliantly!
Denzel is without my favorite actor in just about all the hands on fighting. I am 86 years old and a retired Vietnam twice wounded medivaced vet. My local hospital pretty much said the have no use for us Damn vets, and have a special place for us when when we come in by ambulance. It's upstairs all the way down the end of the hall. The nurses handling me stated "Oh no, really".NO TV for this Damn vet until my son came and took me home.
9:40 I work in construction, and have used those nail guns before. The powder charge is about the equivalent of a .22cal, maybe a bit stronger. They can only be fired if the muzzle is depressed. I've often wondered of a way to make them shoot like this
I once got into an elevator alone with what had to have been a MS-13 gang member. He had a wicked tattoo that ran up his neck and ended in a spade touching his outer left eye. He was very scary looking. But he had a sense of humor. He saw that I was frightened of him, and he made a move like high-school kids do when they want to scare you. I was scared, but he was no real danger to me. He just wanted to have some fun. He was about 5” shorter than me. Built kinda thick and yellow. But honestly, seemed like a guy I could have a drink with. People are born into their circumstances and follow the leads in their lives.
Denzel Washington, his eyes very powerful. He is not super stars but he is A classic performance style from his nature. He is a real performance and I love his actions. I saw thousands of screens in his movies .
McCall is a good guy, like he kills people who are just pure assholes, but that thing with the watch and counting how long it takes for him to wipe a room out and staring at people when they die is freaky as fuck. "Hey yea, you got him! _...ohhhh my god._ "
If human eyes could zoom in and out like in the film it would be cool. Never mind if everyone could do it, it would be no big deal. So you would have to be the only one. The more I think about it I’m 65 and pretty sure I would enter a room zoom in on my enemies to assess the situation, get dizzy and fall over.😂
I have had a few .. well , run ins .. Time slows , almost stops .. That's when you decided to fight or flight .. It's nice to be alive , just make sure you make the right decision ...
He is not necessarily stronger than his opponents, he is simply extremely well trained in defensive moves that are designed to immobilise his assailants and he is also extremely experienced. He is so well trained his brain very quickly conjures up an attack/defence solution to a given situation from just a few moments thought.
@@vincereynard4890 I've got a grip. I know this is a fictional character. I'm talking about the fictional character. I know that Denzel Washington is merely an actor portraying a character. Have you heard the term 'suspension of disbelief'. Chill out, don't shit yourself about a comment on RU-vid.
@vincereynard4890 why is there always some irrelevant, wannabe edgelord in the comments trying to stomp on peoples' enthusiasm for a fandom? Just gotta try and steal the happiness, since you're miserable. Some real little-dick energy right there.
Right? I get that pain that alters is meant more morally and mentally but it also could be like I’ll punch you in the jaw (hurts) or oh here is your severed leg to think about (alters). I wouldn’t want to be a prick but I’d ask for a bit more info.
We get it buddy It's not your white hero 🙃 You're like the weird pasty nerd who doesn't mind aliens, orcs, magicians, and unicorns but melts down if there's a _______😂😂😂😂
@@IknowMoreThanYou why are you over here giving yourself an L? Lmao I'm not white, kid. Man is so deep in his feelings his racism is coming out. I hope life gets better for you, kid.
In the old days, when Aztecs looked at someone, they thought of how much stew their arms and legs would make. No kidding -- they were all cannibals. There were probably insane cults that treasured the nuts.
