I set up a call with an air force recruiter in march! I can’t wait to get more info and see if I can join AFJROTC, soft books program, DEP or whatever the heck.
I was joking the army, but they tried to force me to be a radio tech, when I wanted to be computer tech. So I left and joined the Air Force. Aim High sister.
My first DEP meeting was yesterday. At the very end, my recruiter said it was the hardest one he’s ever conducted. First, we jogged to the park (half mile away). Then four cones were set up around the entire park. There were a set of 3 exercises at each cone and then we ran to the next one when we finished. Did that entire circuit twice. Then the few of us that finished early had to do incline/decline push-ups etc. It was tough, but fun! I like that my recruiter pushed us to our limit.
I’m currently in DEP. As soon as we walk in the door, we do the reporting statement, get our weight, check in sheets, then talk. After that we PT for an hour. They stress us to be in shape. (Active Duty) Central Florida
Oh yeah maybe I should've said that, I'm active duty. My recruit office is completely active duty. How is your DEP meetings different if you don't mind explaining?
AF Reserve DEP is completely different. We're actually called the Development & Training Flight. We report every UTA reserve weekend (usually the first weekend of the month.) We start off the weekend on Saturday morning at 06:30 with our PT test (1 min of push ups, 1 min of sit ups and 1.5 mi of running.) Then we break for breakfast. After breakfast, we usually have someone come and speak to our flight and then class where we study the Airman's Creed, the Air Force Song, Insignia, Ranks and Pay Grades. Then we break for lunch. After lunch we usually march and then have more study time or someone else comes to speak to us. Usually get to leave around 16:30. Sundays are pretty much the same but we don't start of with a PT test, it varies which kind of workouts we do.
Wow that's crazy, you'd think active duty would be doing that but no we hardly do anything. But I cant speak for every recruit center.. Thank you for sharing that, that's good to know and hopefully people will read this!!
