Thank you to Bodhi and Teresa for such a gorgeous inquiry into how we make each day matter. Loved how you took the question in so deeply Teresa and the wisdom you both shared. ❤️
Love it!! Thank you so much for sharing about the Super Blue Moon!! I always feel the moon energy so strongly too, so so nice to hear other people talking about their challenges with it as well!
presence = engagement. Not "an engagement" but being "engaged". When I'm feeling stressed and I'm not thinking clearly, which sometimes happens, I start "processing" -- exactly like you said -- I start projecting (bad) my discombobled state (worse) onto family or coworkers (worst!) -- who, in reality, are so disconnected from my reality, so steeped in their own dramas, it's like, why am I worrying? But getting to that "why am I worrying?" stage isn't easy. Sri Ramana said: "First worry about yourself, then worry about others." Such a wise saying. Think about it. I mean, yes, sometimes your worries are valid, but usually the next day it's like the people you were worried about, the bad guys, have become saints. How ridiculous. ♥
Have a question for Teresa. Why do you refer to your children's last name as Palmer? I know people have various reasons for using their mother's last name instead of the father and was just curious to know if you'd share your thoughts and reasoning. Thanks for another fun podcast!
It’s not a coincidence that the work of giving care “women’s work” doesn’t receive pay or isn’t paid well. It isn’t a coincidence that paid maternity leave is essentially nonexistent in one of the most capitalistic countries in the world. This was all specifically designed in order to “freely” supply a work force for capitalism. The roots of this go many hundreds of years back. Societal and cultural systems have been hard at work disempowering women, witch burnings, female body demonization, etc. These things have set the stage for minimizing the importance of birthing and care work, resulting in countless hours of unpaid and unacknowledged female labor that have allowed for capitalism to exist as we know it today. Read The Caliban and the Witch by Silvia Federici. It’s a small book but a hefty read. It totally blew my mind. It’s the most validating and enlightening thing I have ever read.
