DEPOSITION, a 3 year old colt, was running in the Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct on 4.6.24. Deposition had no idea that this was a high stakes race at a top tier meat grinder. ALL he knew was to run faster or he’d get beaten.
As the field bunched together entering the stretch, it was too close and he clipped heels, resulting in him FLIPPING, FALLING, and getting vanned off the track.
He tries to get up but cannot. NYRA deletes EVERYTHING and the industry comes to racing’s defense, insisting that Deposition is FINE, and that he WALKED INTO THE VAN.
Even IF all his scans come up “negative,” what effects would a horrific event like this have on Deposition’s emotional and mental well-being? Horses are sentient animals with memories, so of course he will suffer from PTSD. Just because he cannot verbalize, that in no way negates it.
