I've caught so many fish on the s waver 168 and 200 I've lost count! Hard to beat for the price point as well! That being said, the Deps is a beautifully made bait!
Good call on the comparison. Its not fair to compare two baits that aren't really in the same category. If you got the $ and the gear to throw it get a deps. Again make sure you have the right gear to throw it or your gonna have a bad time. S-waver 200 is a very proven bait and you will likely get bit on it. Fishing from shore if you snag your deps up on something and its not retrievable its gonna be pretty shitty day for you.
What size hooks are you running on the s-waver? I'm thinking about breaking the bank and getting owner st-58s in the 2/0 size and double split rings to get it to run deeper. Do you think I should stay with the stock 1/0 size?
I've never had the stock hooks break or give me any issues. Even on big stripers. The st-58 will definitely help to get you down deeper. But not by much. The S-Waver 200 naturally wants to rise when its retrieved and twitched. I would recommend using the Savage Gear Glide Swimmers if you needed to stay down deeper, and you can upgrade those with st-58 as well. The hooks I use are sz1 on the Glide Swimmer 205, and sz1/0 on the S-Waver 200. I do not recommend assist hooks or double split rings on either baits. I've lost some really good fish doing that.
@@garrettlaubinger9088 ok, I think I’ll go with the 1/0 owner st-58s, and the 200 s waver. I think I might use the double split ring system, but with owner ultras 110 lb, or the owner hyperwires in the 70 -80 lb. hopefully I can hook into a ten pounder with that set up. I appreciate your video.
