I arrived in England from Eexford in October 1949, there was no benifit of any kind, I had to get work and work for a full year and have a full year of stamps on my card before I would be considered for any benifit. And looking for work outside many factories were large signs desplaying vacciness, and underneath, no Irish need apply. And the landlords would dsplay in shop windows rooms to let which also stated, No Irish, Blacks or dogs.

The government should have put a cap on the numbers of asylum seekers coming into Ireland. Also, those with no documentation should be refused entry into Ireland. Those who are due to be deported, it should be done in a timely manner. The unfortunate stabbing incident was an excuse for thugs looting shops, burning vehicles , attacking Gardai, and other emergency services members . Those individuals don't care about Ireland, only their own gains. The thugs make life a living hell for those in their communities . Business being targeted for robbery, and the thugs they are Dublin natives.

As a Canadian, who is here for study and hoping to stay in this wonderful country post graduation, I must declare how impressed with Deputy Michel Healy-Rae's approach to all of his dealings in parliamentary matters and care for the sovereignty of the Irish. Canada needs a politician like him.

The talk of immigration into this country is literally everywhere, personally I've had conversations at local sports events, work places, shops, post offices, bank, literally everywhere from all walks of life from health care officials, gardai, firefighters, the concensus is very much clear that people have had enough of it now really even those like myself who supported it initially, the government of today is failing and falling hard and fast and the people of this nation have had enough and its very much so clear out there.

We have a national housing emergency for the past decade. You cant house someone when you yourself are homeless. Thats the true disconnect between landlord tds and average people. They flat out do not understand how difficult a basic life is in Ireland for someone from a poor background. Its great to get bonus points abroad and more people to drive up their property values for a minority alone whereas many many more born, reared and tied to the island for millennia are left to die on the streets or emigrate themselves. Marked as some form of defective person because of the lack of housing regardless of the fact that they may be clean and sober honest working people. Thats the true fault of the irish government

People who are able to get on an airplane need atleast as passport right? If they arrive and say they somehow lost it in the plane, then they should be sent directly back to the plane on the return flight from their departure point at the airlines expense.

As an economic migrant, I completely agree with your view that Ireland should focus on economic migration. But the question is, why have asylum seekers increased in the last few decades? If we take a strategic view, we can see that most genuine asylum seekers come from countries like Syria, Iraq, and Libya. Before the wars in the Arab region, no one was leaving from this region. However, when America and its allies started wars in these countries, people fled their homelands in search of better opportunities in Europe or elsewhere. It's high time that America and its allies decide what they want. If they decide to avoid their dominating power in poor countries, then the number of asylum seekers will likely reduce. I understand that Ireland hasn't experienced war in the past, but if Ireland maintains its neutral position and stands against foreign wars, it will discourage people from war-torn countries to come here. Thanks
