I was a juror in Torey's trial and I can say with certainty we jurors weren't biased at all, they (the prosecutors and Torey's lawyers) went through a very thorough jury selection in a town over an hour away from where this happened and we were sequestered for 9 days for the trial where we weren't allowed any electronics whatsoever. They took the TVs, alarm clocks and phones out of our hotel rooms before we got there and we were instructed to leave our cell phones at home before we left. None of us knew anything about this case until we got to trial, all we were told is that it was a high profile case and we'd have to be gone for the entirety of the trial and we left i think 1 hour after jury selection cause we were instructed to go pack clothes and toiletries then were loaded in a van and taken to Pocatello. We couldn't read newspapers or anything for that matter, we were escorted by sheriff's deputies literally 24/7 everywhere we went and the deputies would go in and clear restaurants before we were allowed to go in and they'd have deputies stand in front of newspaper stands while we walked by them. The deputies stayed outside our rooms in the hall at the hotel 24/7 and blocked off the whole 2nd floor of the hotel for only us. The reason for the lack of DNA is because they doused all of the evidence, including the video tape, in alcohol then burned and buried all of it, two knives, two masks, two sets of clothes and the videotape. The forensic pathologist did a VERY good job showing us how BOTH boys were involved. I can say without a doubt from sitting through every minute of the trial and seeing and hearing all of the evidence first hand that they BOTH took part in Cassie's murder and they are both absolutely where they belong.
Whoa. That's intense!! Thank you for sharing that! You should never have to serve on a jury again. What the heck did you do in your hotel room for 9 Days? And how would you wake up without any electronics? I would go crazy and be missing home so quickly if I couldn't text with my family or call them. Could you have books to read? I'm so glad everything was taken so seriously and that those two are behind bars.
@trishpipkins it was very hard, we mostly hung out with each other and the deputies in the hall and if we wanted to go outside they would clear the courtyard of the hotel and escort us out there. We could only have books that the deputies provided us with. They did have a room with a TV and DVD player so we could watch the movies they had in that one room and the TV wasn't hooked up to cable. The deputies would wake us in the morning by knocking on our doors. And If I remember correctly we couldn't be called for jury duty for a few years after but I've been called for jury duty like 3 times since lol
The footage of them planning the murder is so bizarre. They’re trying to sound cool, but their little squeaky teenager voices and idiotic statements really do the opposite.

The whole situation is surreal. I have two kids, if they did something remotely like this I'd question my parenting skills at first. Like why do you even think of murder as an option, my dude? What the actual fck What does it fix? How does it help you? So many questions...
I am a mother of 2 boys. 20 and 23. I can tell you this much. If I knew one of the boys murdered a girl in cold blood, saw the footage of him planning it, etc, and then the footage of him after...I would spend the rest of my life wondering what I did wrong as a parent. I am not saying it is their fault. However, I would NOT defend my child's actions! I would do everything in my power to see what signs I might have missed at home and work to help others so this never happens again.
It's scary to think how many more kids could have been murdered if they weren't stopped. Cassie's bf's mom really saved her sons life by simply being a good mother. I only wish Cassie would have left with them 😔 RIP 🙏
They are way too excited about killing people - it's like to them it's a game or a sport! It's fun for them. And if they hadn't caught them after they killed Cassie, there would have been even more victims - they seemed disappointed that Cassie was there alone!! They were hoping that her boyfriend would be there or that she had friends over besides them!!
I’m beyond shocked at their lack of remorse while planning their so called “friends” murders. Parents need to watch out for the kinds of “friends” their children have.
Always always !! I’m so big on knowing friends, where they live, where they grow up, who raised them, who lives in their home, what they do after school I need to know EVERYTHING if my kid is hanging out with that kid!
My best friend in school lived across the street from me our entire lives, our parents were friendly, nothing weird for 13 years and then he tried to poison me. My parents were blindsided and so was I. Sometimes kids hide it too well.
I freeze-I don’t fight or flee, my stress response is to freeze, whether I’m scared, overwhelmed, in an emergency, etc. my heart breaks for this young girl.

The video tape tells it all. They are both 100% guilty. I hope Tory does not get out early on some stupid technicality, he is still guilty regardless! Tori's parents still believe that their son is innocent!! They're completely delusional - he and Brian were obsessed with killing, and if they had not gotten caught for Cassie's murder, they would definitely have killed more people!!

Listening to Tory's mom defend him in an interview I saw reminded me of what Ted Bundy's "sister" (mom) said about him when he was arrested for murder "but he was always such a GOOD boy!" Some parents will believe anything their children say, even in the face of actual EVIDENCE that they are not the sweet little kids they once were.

Oh my goodness, the video the police found is very disturbing. Those boys should be locked up for life. I feel so bad for their parents, their families and above all else Cassie's family. I pray that she is resting peacefully and keeping an eye on her family. May her soul no longer suffer!
I'm always hesitatant when it comes to feeling any empathy towards the perp's family. There's a reason why he grew up this way. It's highly likely he comes from a toxic family.

The unfortunate thing there is that he has had that problem for a long time. Yes I heard the exasperation of it as well and I agree with you, he definitely was hiding stuff. The part that wrenched my stomach was when he said Cassie was a close friend of his and he loved her. She was blindsided by these filthy animals!!! There’s something deeply disturbed in a human being to be able to carry this out. Way beyond a “love of horror movies.” Myself and my daughter love a good jump scare, but neither of us could ever begin to imagine harming a living being, human or animal. I just can’t wrap my head around it.
All I can say is I’m glad they were caught because being that young & having dark fantasies like that was a recipe for disaster. I can’t imagine the fear and terror Cassie experienced in the last moments of her life.

And I was specifically thinking about how f**ked up it was that Cassie’s bf clearly cared about her and felt bad that she didn’t feel safe. He clearly loved/cared about her and his own “friends” killed her. I could be wrong, but they were in high school… so that was most likely his first love. My first love was a pos to me but I still find him crossing my mind almost 10 years later. To have someone taken from you like that so senselessly and then to hear about how excited they were to do it.. is just so messed up.

Well, sometimes games do escalate into homicide. There are tons of examples of youths getting convicted of manslaughter after an emotionally-driven series of actions, fueled by peer pressure, escalates into homicide. Each friend tries to outdo the other, always expecting the other to bring cut them down, but they just keep encouraging each other until something tragic happens. Obviously that’s not what happened here-these boys explicitly wanted Cassie dead from the start-but it’s not a terrible legal defense on their part, strategically speaking; there’s lots of precedent for it working.
Okay this got me. This broke me. I have heard other people cover this case, but they never showed the footage or the crime scene photo that you did and this one truly just broke me. This was already a heartbreaking case, but to hear the before and after and to see those scary looking masks……. That was way more intense than just hearing some details about this story. I’m just in a lot of shock.
It's so scary how calm the first kid is while being questioned. He is not exhibiting any of the body language you usually see with a guilty person. I don't know if they practiced but he seems totally at ease. A complete psychopath

This is horrifying. I understand the boys were relatively young but when did teens stop valuing lives and understanding right from wrong? My parents, now in their 80s, married right out of high school and raised eight children. With no help from anyone. These boys saw this as a game!

in my teens my parents would never let me have that much time alone with my friends.... I had to always be home by the time the street lights came on. with the entrance of social media the monitoring needs to be intensified.... case and point right here.
They interviewed Brian and Torey for a documentary. Brian showed remorse for what he did. Torey on the other hand talked about it as if he was the victim. He was with his parents and his parents talked to him and about him as if he was still a child. It was weird to watch, but yeah after that I was sure Torey was guilty and not so sure about Brian.
I lived through this and went to school with these 3 and every time I see someone cover this story I have to watch. I remember all of the details like it was yesterday. I remember feeling scared and just absolutely devastated that people can be so evil. Something you never forget, So heartbreaking. RIP Cassie ❤

Brian’s parents were notified of his violent threats and plans to shot people at his school and dance, it was their responsibility to get assistance for their son and/or to keep him away from school settings. Schools are targeted for civil lawsuits because of the possible payouts despite the fault being the parents.
What a Weird episode. How could the school dismiss all that?? What where they thinking ?? How that boy was straight in the head . Go figure !! With all that's going on in the world. My son is in Kuna with Draper. He said it's weird to think he did what he did. There was a mouse that wasn't able to use its back legs, and the inmates on the yard didn't have the heart to put it out of its misery. My son and one of his friends went and asked Brian if he could do it and he couldn't. 😮 It's just an innocent mouse.

It really is. I don't have a stutter, but I have a lisp and it gets so so much worse when I'm anxious/nervous. It's a whole thing. Anyway I think it's common with lots of speech problems for that to happen. Very very telling.

I saw their video years ago when all of this first started making the news and it’s something I don’t think I will ever forget. It’s shocking and really makes me wonder how two kids can end up being like this. To physically do that to someone they consider a friend…I just don’t even have the words.

I think media needs to stop fantasizing and romanticizing heinous killers. They’ve done it with so many. Annie, you said it best, you focus on getting the victims story told, getting the worlds attention on the victim. Not glorify the killer in awe.
