I'm pretty sure I was at this open day at Derby, being 14 at the time. I keep scrutinising it carefully to see if I'm on it, but no luck yet. The plethora of parkas, football kit bags, and long hair certainly takes me back.
I think I'd have died and gone to heaven with all that traction on display... now that's what you call an open day . I think you've out done yourself with this one Trevor ... enjoyed..Andy
Wonderful! BR Blue era open days were awesome! ....The health and safety bods would have a coronary if people went within 10ft of a loco these days. Sadly those old times, (responsibility and common sense), have passed by and people are kept behind safety barriers to look through their phones at things. At least kids will be able to watch this video on their phones ....Happy Days Trevor!
Things a lot tougher now than it was then Stu.Different rules at open days now and different engines as well....Unfortunately will never get these times back.....Cheers...Trevor.''

Another great 'oldie' Trevor....Nice to see Your Boys there when they were Younger...If this was 1978 i was 22 ..not married until the October...OMG...such a long time ago...Lovely to see all the Diesels..especially the accident damaged ones...Cheers....Steve.-:)
Had just nicely got this Cine camera so the lads were keen for me to use it so what better than an Open Day.....Glad i did Steve as it came out well.Glad you liked it......Cheers...Trevor.''
Went to Derby and Donny a couple of times Allan. Our John and some of his pals went to Crewe but i never went there. They were great days seeing all these different locos....Regards....Trevor.''
Another superb look back in time. Would love to what the health and safety lot woul have to say about such adventures ha. Kids loved it by the looks. Really big site. Surprised to see a Deltic? Did you ever get to Tinsley? That looked impressive form road bridge. Well done 😀👍
Great to go around the works in them days.Yes we were stood on a banking to film this at Tinsley and my son got most of the numbers what we could see.Deltic was a clip at Donny which was at the end of film i had in the camera.'''More of Donny on my channel if you want to search for it.....Trevor.''
Exactly what I was going to say as I went to Doncaster open day on 17/6/78 and Derby open day in early August 1978....even had a relief service from Birmingham N St to Derby hauled by 37106 that day and got to view a couple of the SSO services at Derby behind a pair of 25s and a Open Day Special behind a pair of 31s... saw 832,7076 and the other hymek and a Clayton on the Derby-Stoke line on the return to Crewe.....quite a day for a 12 year old at the time.... great footage from the rail blue era with 45067, first class 45 to be withdrawn and 55020 Nimbus at Doncaster also never to run again along with 55001 St Paddy, both just empty shells with their engines removed, I remember running through number 1 and being amazed at the emptiness of the inside.... at least they both had their nameplates still in situ..... thanks for the memories Andrew Lawrence Newport
