Seeing these guys in their 20s and 30s, and now seeing them return as grown men, they all look like fathers now to us youth who watched them. It’s a bit sad, a bit cool, and a hell of a grateful feeling to know we saw their careers and the joy they provided us. Loved this Yankee team.

He left because he felt disrespected by the ownership and management by only going to give him a salary increase if he can get the team into the ALCS and he’ll get paid even more if he can get them a World Series Championship win again. Just not a nice thing to do

96 season still to the this day is my fav!! 98 team was the best, 1999 was great too, but 96 was almost supernatural, a team of under dogs coming together and Jeter coming in as a rookie, playing like a 10 year vet in pressure situations. It was incredible

Bernie Williams was a huge part of this. Bigger than Tino Martinez yet his career is always marginalized with regards to the team chemistry and contributions.

i live in the philly area but i grew up on the jersey shore (NYY territory) from the early 80s through the late 2000s. I've heard a few snide remarks my way from Phillies fans about being a bandwagon fan. A bandwagon fan. As if a Phillies fan knows what that is. I watched the yankees religiously , every game, beginning the season Rickey Henderson was traded there (1985) until about 2007 (after which I moved to south jersey). From 1985-1994, those first 10 years I watched nary a single playoff game. I can remember one hot august summer night after another in 1985, 86, 87,88, 89, 90, 91, 92 watching every inning of every game, hoping the yankees can pull within 3 games of THIRD place in their division. A bandwagon fan. Yeah, right. No team in any sport took longer to participate in a single playoff game for me than the Yankees. And when the 90s rolled around? Its easy when you're a fan of a loser like the Phillies to talk crap. Those championship seasons --they kept me UP AT NIGHT. Cheering, hopeful, scared, worried, because they finally became something and after having put IN all those years of nothingness, I wanted that time to pay off. I wanted to experience rooting for a championship team. I could remember October games where the SPACE between EVERY PITCH was AGONIZING. Yeah, a bandwagon fan. Some people don't know what being a fan is.

For a guy who had world class talent, world class coaches, managers, owners, teammates around him all his MLB career, it baffles me why and how Derek is such a crappy baseball owner. LOL!
@ThumbsUpMike
@ThumbsUpMike Год назад
Because being a player of passion and an owner of business is two completely different worlds. You know how hard it is to be a baseball owner or a business owner period. It's not like being a player where you just focus on yourself. A business owner you have to focus and control so many different things and keep everything all on the same page, which is incredibly hard and different.
