dude my bench max is 90 and i'm 16yo and weight 62kgs, 170cms height... lol by the way i feel you, idk why people barely lift above 80, thuogh i'm young and not really heavy, and i don't have much powerlifting experience neither... ppl are weak

It's sumo though the range of motion is almost non existant, why do they do sumo anyway even watching it is a bit cringy I think. You literally have 2 really high ROM lifts followed by non existent ROM lift..... I don't get it.

He really has an outstanding wing tuck. Most mortals keep the elbow supinated and thrust through the mid lift, but Ng keeps that inflection point square and it's really something to behold! Bravo!

Semaj Acol Adival I feel like you also need to have long enough fingers, maybe that's why I see so many people drop it, for me it doesn't do a thing and actually makes it harder (but I'm like 5'7" so my hands aren't that big)

Jim Jones I've tried hook grip and can't get used to it at all, my hands aren't huge but I'm somewhat tall so they probably aren't the problem, my thumb slips out of my fingers every time It feels impossible to grip onto it, am I doing something wrong?

Charlie Kilby-Pollard I'd try to find a few videos of people teaching how to do it bc it's not as simple as just grabbing the bar with your thumb under your fingers (that's what I tried at first lol), I can't remember how helpful the video was but Izzy Narvaez/Powerliftingtowin has one on it and he is usually pretty knowledgeable

Bench press is a powerlifting movement mate. I have no clue what you mean by half rep because you can't go much deeper than shown in the video. You have to arch your back in a bench press to have as much leg drive as possible. Your lower body is just as important in the bench press as your arms and upper body is in the squat and deadlift.

What are the rules about deadlifting? Surely people who are sumo lifting have an unfair advantage as the weight doesn't travel as far?

It's only unfair if the the option is not open to all but as it is and they decided not to that up to them. But the basic rules are the bar must be lifted in one motion and your knees and shoulders must be locked and back. There is not a rule for distance your feet can be apart.

under the rules that are used yes this is correct form as you are able to reduce the distance the bar has to travel and by doing this you can put more weight on the bar. however this is really only used at this level in the sport. having such a large arch is not advised unless you and at the world class level. up to this level you need to develop your body and gain in strength, without this developed strength you will only fail if you were to try this. so when you see all the people saying if I arched like this I would lift xxx amount of weight, they can't. If they were to try this I can almost say for certain that the bar would drop like a stone to the chest and go nowhere.

The sport of powering is based around a total not a single lift, unless it's is a single lift comp but that would be stated. So the number in the title is this athletes end ruselt. Just the same at the end score at a football game. No-one cares about what happened in the first half only the end result

Very much so, it's a comp style bench press. As long as your feet are flat on the floor and you bum, shoulders and head never come off the bench then you are good to go

you can compete with empty bar, there is no weight limit. we have people who deadlifted 120 kg on our national meet.

That deadlift confuses me. I feel as if the deadlift (conventional and traditional sumo) involves the back since regular set-up is an angled back. His deadlift utilizes the back to a very minimal degree and almost seems as if its a half ROM wide stance squat. Can someone explain this?

What I don't understand is, how all of these skinny guys lift such weights? But none of them have some "serious" muscles??? Look at the hands of this guy? I mean, he is benching, ok, where is his triceps? I would expect him to have a strong triceps... I am really confused now... o.O

Very selective training based around the sport in hand. Just like a sprinter and a long distance running. Different styles of doing the same thing result is a very different body shape. Where a bodybuilder might lift half of what these guys do, they go about their training with one goal in mind. Also most body building don't need to stay within a set weight class.

@@liamwanamaker2491 yeah when I compete I'm this weight (it's sub 60kg here not 59) walk around slightly heavier during the rest of the year. But 2 hours pre weigh in is enough to lose a decent amount of water weight regardless and still recover.

Sorry, yea its alot of weight and all but thats not a deadlift... cmon man he moved the bar like 10cm from the ground 😂 thats everything but not a clean deadlift. And this bench press 😂 thats just pure cheating dude. They should allow only raw benching.

He has twice as simple in the chest. I am 62 kg lift 160 kg in a sumo. Legs 105 kg. Chest 92 kg
