That’s amazing!! I first noticed this trick is in the licks of the song I Am The Moon, really really full of power and emotion. AND YOU DID IT!!! Great Work mentor Dan!!🔥🔥🔥
Dude Derek trucks is the baddest man on the planet! Thank you for explaining this it is so badass “filthy” as you put it. That stuff down in the mud hole somewhere 😂
YES!!!! Thank you so much for this, my friend. Haven't finished watching but I had to comment. A masterclass in touch and phrasing. There is so much to take in here. Definitely have my work cut out for me. Awesome job, man. Thanks again...
Dan, I love your breakdowns like this. I am trying to stop relying on tab and learn by ear, but Derek's solo's are so intricate. Also there a very few of Derek's solos tabbed anyway. I appreciate your breakdown even if it is not note for note. Just seeing your technique is a huge benefit in my slide learning. Slide on, cheers.
Brilliant dude! Was hoping you’d go over this. There was another guy you went over it but it just wasn’t the same, he did a great breakdown but he’s not a slide player . Thanks for this!
I’ve seen Duane twice. And Derek just once, so far. (Ok Boomer) I never thought I’d hear anyone slide better than Duane. Now I have! Nice that he’s essentially part of the family. Shit, check Ancestry because you might be too!!
The human voice is the perfect melodic instrument but the slide guitar gets as close as possible, allowing you to pack as much emotion into your licks as possible.
Hi bro, i try to learn Slide and Derek stuff by Ear since 2 years, but sometimes it's pretty difficult, Your work and your playing help me, thanks so much. Can you just tell what kind of pedals and amps you're using for this video ? Cheers from France
Hey man , sounding good he is an incredibly hard guitarist to imitate. I have a question im a bonifide strat guy but it doesn't have the access of an SG. What are your recommendations for a guitar that can get in the ball park that isnt a vintage gibson
"Two notes competing with each other" is spot on. In the physics of sound, they are somewhat out of phase and so you get that warbly, slightly out of tune effect.
