Nothing will be left of Birmingham I remember when I was young. I grew up around Broadstreet where shops and factory's once stood. It's Sad to see it now.

Nice vid&soundtrack....What happened to Digbeth Civic Hall..saw Muddy Waters&Little Walter there in the late 60s...followed by a rush through town to get the last 64 to Erdington..it was a school night!! Cheers!

Hello Mad Carew, the Civic Hall is still standing & prospering. It is now known as O2 Institute. I talked about it in the Digbeth past & present.

A fascinating film as usual. Nice to see you doing one of your 'pub videos' in the middle of it, and also a brief glimpse of the MAC which I visited regularly. A 48-storey building though? Totally out of place.

Hello Chris, thank you very much. I was thinking of mixing genres. I have been in Cannon Hill Park in years. But I do believe new buildings are being erected near the MAC. In Digbeth, most buildings on the right (Smithfield House and the Campus opposite, the Subside Bar will be demolished within the next 5 years.

Will Birmingham ever be completed?

Probably not ... maybe I like it because it appeals to my ADHD sense of impermanence, as soon as something works, change it.

@@chrisamies2141 I find this video incredibly sad, partly because of the city’s lack of vision and partly because the wholesale demolitions in many cases were quite unnecessary. The irony is that we didn’t really end up with anything better. When I look at photos of the Camp Hill Flyover, I wonder why the planners didn’t just create an extra lane in the middle of the road. Their ‘solution’ was an utter monstrosity. Then there’s the loss of the lovely houses on the main road and Dowell’s Retreat in Warner Street. I think we’ve moved backwards.

@@Tommii38 I moved out of Brum in 2015 and a lot has changed just in those eight years. You're right, too much has gone.
