Why does this dermatologist not know the difference between a fatty alcohol and a drying one?? Did anyone catch that? Just goes to show that dermatologists are not chemists and do not understand skincare ingredients only medications.

So many other problems in this video as well. The dermatologist talks about how sunscreens are regulated by the FDA and therefore are safe. The FDA states that organic sunscreens are found in the blood and more tests will be needed. Perhaps this is what Gwyneth considers 'harsh' and why she chooses a mineral sunscreen. On top of that, it is hard to find a non physical sunscreen that does not sting eyes, this too can be considered 'harsh'. I personally do not want sunscreen filters circulating in my blood because I don't know what it does over time. Neither do dermatologists or anyone else for that matter because the studies have simply not been conducted. No one is going to die or have their skin peel off but health problems can arise over time and it's almost impossible to find correlations. I'm a statistician, I see how studies are conducted. Until then it's quite malicious to laugh at people who simply want to err on the side of caution. We have options so why not use them. If you love your avobenzone and homosalate etc: slather them all over to your heart's content, just don't denigrate other people for not doing the same. So evil.

Yeah, she needs another wilfully ignorant human being to validate her ignorant remarks because facts do just the opposite. They both should do a bit of research beyond the corrupt and “cherry-picking” FDA narrative and learn more about the ingredients that the “clean” companies avoid using and why such ingredients are banned outside of the USA. They should also understand the regulatory process and know that the FDA's data in regulatory decisions are cherry-picked and spoon-fed by the companies seeking approval for their products.

@@lux9956 I’m simply pointing out the irony of using the picture of a plant that was historically used for torture because of its irritant properties in a “clean beauty” campaign. Dose and route of administration are not lost on me, but they still managed to include imagery of plants that are considered toxic both topically and orally, simply because they’re green I guess. Anything can be toxic in a high enough concentration, tea tree oil will still cause issues if you use it undiluted on your skin.

Aging is a privilege. - This thought always makes my chest swell. Now that I'm in my mid-30s and despite taking really good care of my skin, I still see my face aging and looking tired. It can be overwhelming. When I was younger, I used to tell myself that I would cherish my smile lines and wouldn't mind if my face wrinkled in a permanent smile.

I am trying to live a life where aging is beautiful. To love my lines that are starting to appear now at 33 years old. I always said I going to love them. I do take care of my skin, but I know I won't be forever withouth wrinkles. However, nowadays everybody gets all types of treatments to look younger, society has become so superficial, so this makes me sad. I's still going to love my smile lines, anger lines, whatever lines. Because they are the vivid image of what I have been through, of what I have lived. I do not want to delete my past and my emotions.

You can try to help him with a skincare routine by making sets of routines and numbering them in order. It makes it visual and easy to do everyday. It’s just what I did to help my husband but I’m sure that your partner will have other aids that helps him that I am not going to meddle in. We’re all different. I have more patients who come in asking for a product to fix something when many times the underlying issue is the amount of products they are using already and little to no knowledge about how they can interact with one another. In a way, it's still helping people by undoing the damage their influence has caused, but it's damage that should not be happening in the first place. It is exponentially more difficult and time consuming to have to unwind and evaluate all the products people are using just because some random influencer recommends it than it is to treat someone who comes in with skin problems that isn't trying 10+ products and constantly swapping them out every time someone recommends another one. There is just so much to undo to get back to a base level that you can even work off of to begin a proper skincare regimen. It's also difficult to really get people to stop continuing the cycle, because the instant gratification and immediate access of watching videos and access to products almost makes people addicted to the cycle because social media gives people such unrealistic expectations. Due to the area where I practice, if I could permanently shutdown the stupid Vogue skincare routine videos, it would probably save me a year's worth of work alone. Sigh.

@TheLurkingDerm
@TheLurkingDerm 2 года назад
@@elisa1213 YES. It's too much everything, products are used incorrectly or in the wrong order (negating any benefits from it), and there is no reason to be spending so much. Very, very, very few high end designer make up and skincare products are even remotely close to being worth their retail price. Instead of wasting thousands of dollars on the products in the skincare routine, if relegating a budget is necessary, get some actual dermatological procedures instead that will actual penetrate the skin barrier and do something. Note it has been a while since I watched their skin routines, but I remember being pretty appalled by both. It's funny for me to watch, but when I think of all the people it's influencing, it becomes a lot less funny. Think of this as a general rule... you want to use as few but effective products as possible. Talk to your dermatologist or primary care physician. They can give you access to skincare lines that are only available through a doctor. And always wear sunscreen... even if you are going to be inside. Remember it needs to be reapplied throughout the day!

He fears it returning and has two small boys, it’s a real fear. I don’t think he needs to be insecure about his ear ascetics, he always looks professional and I think the surgeon did a great job. Acne is a huge problem for me as well. I don’t know if you’ve tried it but the cetaphil oil absorbing spf 30 is really good and doesn’t cause me to have acne and is pretty mattifying/non greasy. It’s my favorite rn. The brand differen makes a oil absorbing sunscreen to and it’s too and it’s the same exact ingredients so if you can get either one. It’s about $14/3 oz ( most brands are only 1.7 - 2 oz for a similar price) . If you don’t like chemical sunscreens sunbum makes a good tinted/nontinted mineral face spf (I think it’s the same price for the same amount). It’s like a primer so it leaves a soft velvety non oily feeling on the skin, and doesn’t cause acne. Sunbum also has a chemical face spf called “face 50” that says it’s acne safe. I wouldn’t reccommend that one for me it exacerbated my acne really bad and left me with bad hyperpigmentation, and I’ve read similar things from other people as well.

@@britnysnyder4991 Edema is a symptome of all kinds of conditions. Its the medical term for fluid that collects in your tissue. The most well known version are swolen feet. Edema are a Symptome most commonly asociated with high blood pressure and heart insufficiency, but are also caused by pressure on the lymph structures (lying on one arm all the time, being very obese etc.) or by damage to the lymph structures after surgery or trauma. An Edema presents by swelling of the effected body part, to differentiate fat tissue from fluids you can press one finger in the effected area if the imprint stays after you remove the finger and the tissue does not snap back right away, then its an edema. Many versions of Edema can be treated by removing all pressure on the effected area, placing the bodypart slightly higher or even above heart level and soft massages moving the liquid mechanical to the heart. For chronic Edema special clothing exist, that will help prevent the build up of fluid in an area by slight compression. In any case, if you get Edema that you can't pin down the reason for then go see a doctor, you might have an underlying condition that needs treatment. Often, especcially in wen edema in the legs are just because of their vein structure, but since it can be something seriouse like heart damage, kidney failure etc it absolutly needs to be checked out.

My first thought was she looks like a sun‐damaged smoker. She is very parched looking.

Honestly this video made me nervous about the fact I’m not wearing sunscreen right now even though I’m in bed at night with the curtains closed haha

I have had to teach myself to take the trash out without sunscreen. I was starting to get obsessive compulsive about it.

After those pictures, I'm so grateful for my mother's obsession with slathering me in SPF 50 since I was a baby and creating that habit for me.. yes, please COVER ME IN SUNSCREEN!!!

I'm a CNA and even I thought the same as the dermatologist. You never want to start first from the feet. NO. A big NO in healthcare.

i’m a teenager and it was my immediate thought too 😂 like ew i would not want to rub feet all over my arms, not even my own feet. it feels gross moisturizing them after the shower sometimes, and the bathroom floor is gross and i just want to put socks on right away so they won’t get dirty but then they can grow fungus in a moist environment 😭 i just hate feet tbh

I appreciate your videos so much btw. The glass skin video was so informative and helped me figure out a routine and products to purchase. I was hesitant to order things for like a year. After your video I immediately ordered everything. Half of the haul were from your video too. Hope you got some kind of kick back

I come from Sicily and I baked mercilessly in the sun for years, then at 25 I started to develop tons of moles suddenly, I went to check to the derm because one of my moles seemed sketchy. It turned out that the one that caused me to go to the doctor was fine but there was another one who caused so much concern that I went under urgent surgery after 2 days from the derm moles check. Then, I had to cut off other 2 moles and I'm still keeping under control other 2 that seem worrying. The point is, skin cancer is devastating even in comparison to other types of cancer, you can die in 2 years from the diagnosis , it's so scary. I'm 36 today and I use sunscreen almost religiously and I don't bake in the sun anymore, you actually tan even under the shadow of a sun umbrella. I put sunscreen everyday every season of the year and I check the uv percentage before going out to decide wether I put sunscreen (50 spf) + photoprotective makeup (30spf) or just the latter of the two. Now I have a little nephew and the very first product I made my sister buy for him is high spf mineral sunscreen, I also always remember her to protect my nephew's skin from the sun, he's fair skin and I don't want for him to suffer in any way. Maybe I am being too annoying for my family and friends because I always tell them to apply and buy sunscreen and protect from the sun but I think people still underestimate the consequences in terms of general health and beauty (I'm battling the wrinkles and photoaging I caused with my reckless behaviour when I was younger). People, take it from me, avoid surgery, cancer, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, protect yourselves! Sorry for the long comment

It's good that you're diligent about it. I am VERY fair skinned and have had my share of really bad sunburns and a few years ago I had a weird spot checked out and it was basal cell carcinoma, right on the side of my nose that I had to have taken out. It was pretty bad, but sun exposure is a real monster.

Thank you so much for this. While I appreciated the other reaction videos to the Paltrow video, this was was really excellent because Dr. Heidi points out that, in the end, the video is harmful enough it warrants removal.
